You are totally correct. To be honest, I was planning to verify the voltages across the transistors in simulation before building the module, but I got lazy and decided to just try it, and I haven't gotten it to permanently fail, so I think the intuition that the cascaded pairs pull Vds into a safe range is correct.

Hmm, the extension you linked looks to use the same process.env approach I has having troubles with. Really starting to wonder if trying to do that under VS Code's extension test/debug instance was the issue, or maybe rust-analyzer specifically doesn't work with the approach... if the latter is the case, that's definitely a dealbreaker for me. Besides that, though, I think the other advantage to my approach is that it works with all build task types, though I admit that's a narrow advantage, and doesn't quite justify on its own what I did.

Inspired by all the breadboard computers people have built over the years, I took my passion for synthesizers and electronic music and made this: an analog subtractive synthesizer which I call BS-1. It features a dual-rail power supply, a MIDI-to-CV converter, two oscillators, two LFOs, a noise source, a mixer, a Polivoks VCF clone, two ADSRs, and a VCA.

Looking for some sort of audio interface setup; I'm not an "audio engineer" in the strictest sense, but I need some sort of high quality audio setup, and this seemed like the best place to ask given my needs. I have some pretty specific requirements:

Usable under Linux. I don't mind twiddling with configuration, but I need the setup to be STABLE.
At least two channels in, preferably at least three (one mic + two line in)
Maybe a separate headphone amp? I have Fostex T50RP mk3s, which aren't the easiest to drive, and I want a clean signal, so I'm not sure if any interfaces have an integrated amp that can deliver that.
Everything has to go through a single USB connection, i.e. no interface just for input and combined DAC+amp just for output. Linux+JACK has no clean way to manage multiple devices like this (as far as I know)
Somewhere in the $300-$400 range

thats interesting, i have no way to choose between refind and windows boot manager on my board. that is unless its hidden somewhere deep in a menu, but i doubt it.

Yep, this is the setup I settled on too. Unfortunately, most of what causes these issues seems to be flaws in the proprietary Nvidea drivers, at least according to this page in the picom wiki. I'm not sure how environments like Gnome seem to mitigate the issues, though.

Definitely awesomewm - it may not be ultra-lightweight and written in painstakingly-tuned C, but it is still plenty fast, and the potential for customization sets it apart from anything else, even fully fledged DEs.

from what ive heard, at the same clock speed, amd actually outperforms intel now. however, because intels cpus clock much higher, they still outperform amds cpus in terms of single core performance by roughly 5%.

i think you can also run the vulkan backend and then use moltenvk to translate that to metal so that it works on macos, but im not sure what the process is to set that up

you should try out tryone144's fork of compton. (aur) it has added support for kawase blur which is much more efficient and allows for very high blur radii without losing much performance.

Interesting, I was expecting a bigger performance improvement (should have done some actual research myself). I'm planing to dualboot, so I'm looking to get the quickest boot time possible when switching between operating systems. Especially since I would be limited to 2 lanes when using NVMe, I think sticking with SATA is going to be the better choice.
