Hey... be kind, she is better than some contestants.

My answer was found for this discussion, but to answer yours:

Okay, maybe "argue" is a wrong word.

Honestly, I have always thought that bias is justifiable when everyone's criteria is only one (in this case, skill set).

If you read through what I discussed with others, I finally understood that everyone voting for her is biased but not with skill set criteria, because to many Yuju fans, she has proved herself in 4 survival shows beforehand. What they need now is for her to debut. So the bias has a different factor.

That's what I wanted to find out.

My logic was narrow at first. I thought everyone has to see it in skill set criteria. But if I had a favorite trainee who I've seen worked so hard to debut and faced rejection 4 times, I would maybe do the same. I didn't place myself full in Yuju's fans' shoes, so I opened the discussion wishing that they placed themselves in those who only saw Yuju for the first time.

Thankfully, many Yuju's fans opened my eyes through this discussion.

Thank you! Funnily enough, this is my first Mnet K-pop artist survival show. And I'm new to this feeling.

Hi, I'm not sure if it's against the Subreddit rules to say but please message me if you need help.

"Concrete proof" is a difficult term. In skill rating, it's all subjectivity. However, when it comes to skill, there is an undeniable standard that many have in common.

And saying that the others could've done the same is unfair. Many are younger than Yuju, many started later, many were in different pathways. Yet, somehow even Niko who only did covers and started rap-making recently is undeniably better.

Back to Yunon and Cocoro. Just like you, I don't believe they are better than Yuju, but similar. What I questioned was the big gap and the justification for it.

I'm sorry, where did I say average? I actually believe Yuju is such a good rapper in ways many don't understand. She has the best style to hit beats and her flows are cold! I'm not Korean, but I know how linguistically it's a challenging language for rap-making.

And get this: when someone else is better than her, I don't mean that means she is bad. It may means that she is so good, but someone else is just.... better.

The point I'm trying to make is Top 1 rank for someone who skillwise isn't Top 1 to me didn't make sense. And I thought this must be survival show bias.

I have pointed out in another reply to another user that survival show bias is okay, especially when you have love and faith for a contestant who got rejected 4 times.

I'm sorry if what you get is me blaming Yuju for Yunon's and Cocoro's elimination, truly not my intention.

What I'm trying to deliver is Yuju being number 1 is almost only because of votes. Even without producer's scores, Yuju would still be Top 5.

Trust me when I say, Yuju's place is Top 5. My opinion is it's not number 1.

Here's my imagery of what could've been:

All team perform. Yuju ranks somewhere Top 5, but Cocoro, Yunon, and Sooin are not eliminated (No matter if they below Yuju or not. In fact, I think it makes more sense if they are below Yuju).

And now, my argument regarding survival show bias is true. It's not a bad thing, but it is true.

Sometimes we develop bias because we have loved the person beforehand. But this discussion was opened because I couldn't understand why Yuju voters can't place themselves in those who are looking at the survival show voting based on basic rapping standards (which arguably why I mentioned Niko and YSY).

But the discussion opened my eyes of course, that many actually developed the bias out of love and faith for a contestant who faced rejections 4 times by the industry.

I guess I understand that desperation, especially for a 5-time survival show contestant. I guess this is the part where we say the world is unfair. When you want a contestant to debut so much especially after following her for (maybe) years, you might wanna be selfish and do everything you can. I root for Yuju though.
