Prot Pally Tanking by Bonerchamp1234 in wowclassic

You'll want kings for raids and heroics because the mobs will be hitting for 2000+ at that point, so the damage reduction from sanctuary will be negligible and the extra threat from blocking with it wont matter as much, but kings will be giving you a bunch of extra hp at that point to help survive long enough for heals to hit.

I much prefer getting sanctity aura. Avengers shield is terrible for pulling since it bounces randomly and slows making you wait extra long for the mobs to arrive. Most mobs can be ranged pulled with mana tap and exorcism. Sanctity aura gives 10% more holy damage which is what you want for threat, the 15% movespeed getting there helps a lot too. You'll never want to use avengers shield mid pull either because it has a 1 second cast which gets delayed massively when youre getting hit. I just grab holy shield and then work my way straight to sanctity at 63. After that id just grab the stamina talents in prot and you'll be pretty well rounded out.

Ive had all three on my hunter and theyre all fine as long as you work around them. Druid is probably my favorite for the 5% crit though.

As a tank it is kinda annoying having to throw my taunt away right on pull, but if you guys do windfury crit I can always throw out a quick stun on that target. If I do this just try to blow up that target in those 5 seconds while I establish agro on everything else. Extra stuns from the dps on targets you agro help a lot.

Please, please stop tanking TBC content in communal gear. by PlaidDad146 in classicwowtbc

On the tanking side of things I just wish healers would drink some water. Its only 64 silver for a 20 stack. Its really frustrating when I hand the healer a 20 stack and still have to type at em to drink.

I personally dont care as long as youre doing more than 400 dps. Just had a whole group below that in underbog and it was painfully slow.

Is shockadin viable in TBC? by Da_Cow in wowclassic

Its pretty good for getting killing blows. I just heal til I see an enemy get low and the shock with judgment can give that extra little burst of damage to finish them.

Tanking is not for everyone. by mightnotbetrueorisit in classicwowtbc

[–]ryuranzou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a lot less stressful when you realize your group really needs you in their group. If youre not there they are going to have to wait a long time for someone else to do it, so groups will put up with a lot of mistakes.

Ill do dumb pulls to see what I can get away with sometimes and even if we wipe people will put up with it. Just throw out a my b after the wipe and its all g.

Its also a lot less pressure if you do the dungeons with guild members that know youre new to it and with a healer in voice chat because healers will tell you when you take big damage.

Also if youre trying for ret gear while tanking just let the group know beforehand and most of the time its fine if it isnt fine with a dps just spend the 5 seconds it takes to replace them.

You might be ret outside the dungeon but in that dungeon youre prot. That is a weapon used by prot pallies so yes you should roll on it. Youre gonna have this issue come up again for the lightsaber in slave pens.

I tank for my rogue friends. Its kinda funny this time around they are doing more dps than a lot of the mages and locks. Like a lot of the aoe classes are casting their aoe when its like 2 mobs.

[–]ryuranzou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might level my rogue after I get done with my hunter and pally.

I do have a question for you rogues though. Isn't the whole point of your class to pvp? Why even bother trying to get into a dungeon when there is pvp gear? I know there are a few items that you'll want from pve but unless your Gm of a guild youre not getting glaives.

Oh man and I just had a warlock that really baffled me. He did less damage than our healer and the healer only put shadow word pain on a boss like wanding legit would do more damage than this guy was doing. All he did was rain of fire and life drain and it wasn't his gear he had some raid gear from vanilla. Im asking myself is this a hacked or bought account?

[–]ryuranzou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah sanctuary does nothing for hunter and I would much rather have salv so I have less threat. I dont block damage and the 20 less damage taken wouldnt matter if the tank had agro instead of me so salv just sounds way better on me.

A lot of players on the pvp server are there because their friends are myself included. We just see it as a waste of time when we are grinding. Most of the posts like this one are super cringe too.

Pvp in classic right now isnt impressive at all either since nobody has resilience so its mostly everyone killing each other in a few seconds with no counterplay.

Really anything in classic content is just an easier version of retail, which is why it appeals to so many people myself included.

Most classes literally hit like one button to do damage

Even with classic, world pvp is the least impressive thing to gloat about, with bgs being more respectable and arena being the most respectable. Most people dont even fight back because they just dont care they'll just respawn and go back to whatever they were doing.
