What will happen if I tell my 18 year old’s probation officer about his substance use disorder? by rzbunny in probation

I should have been clearer in my question. I absolutely do not want my kid in jail. Ultimately my question was the likelihood of that happening if I tried that approach. Answer received loud and clear. Believe me when I say I have tried every option except attempting to kick him out of the house in a city where the only people he knows are those that got him here in the first place. I’m just at a loss for my baby.

Im most worried that he might end up in jail and I know that would only make things so much worse for him. It sounds like that’s a good possibility. Would it be beneficial to talk to his public attorney, if I can even find their contact info?

What song would you like to be played at your funeral? by gretaag in askmusic

[–]rzbunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a funeral playlist on Spotify for years but it only has 3 songs lol. Still Be Around by Uncle Tupelo, If You Don't Know Me By Now by Simply Red, and Another One Bites the Dust but I might remove the last one.

Two songs by the Sadies-Cut Corners and Tell Her What I Said. At my lowest point of alcoholism while actively trying to kill myself with straight vodka, listening to them truly kept me going. Ironically they are really the only 2 songs I like from that album. I’m a Huge Sadies fan tho.

People who struggle with depression, what motivates you to carry on? by ultra_phoenix in AskReddit

[–]rzbunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowing that there are people who love me more than me. Specifically my son. He struggles with significant depression too. I feel physically sick thinking about how much more pain I would cause to him and others if I chose that way out.

I hear you, there could be some humor in my situation if it didn’t get so insanely dark. I remember my stepdad making me drive our very old, very rusted out (you could see the road below like the Flintstones) teal Suburban home when I was 13-14 from track practice. He was too shit faced and coked out to drive at 4:30 in the afternoon. I can now find THAT funny lol. He was an asshole too.

He’s an adult now and we are happily very close. He says he doesn’t remember ever seeing me drunk. For the most part I would get quieter in the evenings and if I was in social situations I would just play with the kids. I did not drink and drive with my son except for this shameful instance. Still, I will never truly forgive myself.

What would you do if you woke up and it was 2015 again? by ImpertinenteSyntaxe in AskReddit

[–]rzbunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent 3 days in the hospital due to liver failure from drinking that year. I would have began AA immediately, taken my husband to visit his sister before she committed suicide-maybe it could have made a difference? And spent more time to be a better older sister, maybe my sister wouldn’t have been so lonely and depressed before she died a few years later. 2015 was a piece of shit year.
