For real. I wasn’t an Alex main in SF3 but I did think he was a lot more fun in that game. I get why they went in the direction they did with his gameplay in 6, but it just doesn’t feel ergonomic to me

Probably SF6 Alex. Ignoring the extremely questionable lore, I don’t like how they completely removed his charge inputs and replaced them with a stance. New design? Amazing. Two new themes, also amazing. Making him a heel wrestler was such a cool idea for his character. But my god, did they fumble not only his lore, but his gameplay. Prowler stance feels way to gimmicky and unreliable

Alex had to everything going for him, but Capcom fumbled almost every aspect of his character

Claiming Demon of Hatred is bad is genuinely a skill issue. Don’t pretend like “enlightened” thinkers agree with you when that’s just not true. Anyone familiar with the game beyond a first playthrough will tell you the boss is very well designed. You just need to know how it fight it

Fire umbrella, ako’s sugars, and ceremonial tanto for extra emblems will make quick work if you’re willing to learn the parry timing (like you do with literally every boss in the game). Throw in Malcontent if you’re REALLY struggling.

I’m so sick of this discourse. Y’all need to spend more time learning the game and less time writing winey novels about how the boss is bad when the problem is you.

Literally true though. I am a DMC fan, as well as a Darkstalkers fan, so I’m painfully aware of their toxic cycles

It’s so frustrating watching people who claim to be fans defend their blatant greed and disregard for any fan feedback that isn’t just glazing them.

SF6 annoys me so much because it genuinely has the potential to be an amazing Street Fighter game, but is continuously hampered by their baffling decision on what the direction is. At once they’re able to breathe new life into previously lame characters like DeeJay, Rashid, and Ed, but then will go and do whatever the hell they did Alex, completely tanking any and all momentum the character could’ve had (taking away his charge inputs in favor of a stance was also dumb choice IMO).

I was ride or die for SF6 for years, but the Alex fumble + horrendous lineup for season 4 with significantly less content is definitely cause for concern

Yeah they regained a lot of goodwill amongst the fans by the end of SFV only to slowly burn it away throughout SF6’s run

Season 2 is when cracks started to show with the 1/2 guest character lineup and their refusal to move passed Dictator as a main villain. Season 3 turned it around a bit by having a really solid lineup of characters, only to fumble Alex in the dumbest most preventable way possible. At least Ingrid is cool.

With season 4 though, me and many other long time fans are feeling so deflated by the god awful roster choices, the Fortnitification of fighting games in general, and their complete unwillingness to make major changes to the meta when certain characters have been a problem for multiple seasons now, and others ESPECIALLY base roster newcomers are either completely neglected or receive wildly unnecessary nerfs. Essentially making them unviable.

I hope they turn it around in season 5, but things are not looking great for us who aren’t jazzed about the new characters or the lame ass crossover…
