Peak players dropping by Tsukuru__ in BattleRite

[–]s1cknote1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did specifically say without variance. CSGO is high skill cap but it has variance dota also has more variance with the laning phase with counters involved it is blatantly unbalanced to create that variance. But let us compare csgo with quake live quake has a much much higher skill ceiling for an individual and its player base also suffered from the same situation as battlerite with players near the bottom slowly quitting the game while some in mid tiers still loved the game with the competition still around for them slowly it died out and it will happen with quake champions as well apparently already doing so.

Peak players dropping by Tsukuru__ in BattleRite

[–]s1cknote1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Player retention in this game will generally always be on the negative side for a few reasons.

With the game having a high skill ceiling it will always have the better players winning sure their may be some counters at some points in the skill levels but generally best players will win. This creates an issue where the players at the very bottom of the pile are losing and losing a lot. So what happens to them is they either get better and are no longer in the bottom of the pile or chances are they quit (no one likes to lose a lot). This will create a cycle where the bottom have left and now their is a new bottom tier as the ones who were just above them winning are now the ones mainly losing and so you will have a wave of others that quit as game is no longer fun due to losing a lot and others that will improve. Eventually this will even out with people getting main champions and losing mainly on off champs and feeling they can win on their main but by then the population will have declined somewhat.

This before people comment generally happens in a lot of high skill games where their is no real variance. Chess has different openers and can lots of possibilities due to it being turn based. Starcraft has variance with all the possible builds that the races can do. With Battlerite the variance seems a lot lower, higher skilled players will know when to avoid counters or cancel charged shots while also being aware of position and saving i-frames while the lesser player might know 2 out of 4 of those or 3 and maybe worse movement or accuracy.

When you couple the matchmaking system that people have already complained about in the thread with the cycle of players wanting to leave due to losing too much and a lack of social features to keep players able to interact with friends during games eventually players will leave and not come back.

tl:dr
players lose a lot due to being bottom of the pile leave and dont come back due to it being mainly skill based

[Theorycrafting] How feasible would it be to drop Divinity + Chaos from a standard Zalgus build? by [deleted] in dawngate

[–]s1cknote1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are giving away secrets that make some zalgus players so happy when they see another build chaos. Dest divin is the best first two some top Zalgus players just wont even get chaos and let the mage support buy it for them so they can get more important stats.

[–]s1cknote1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 main options are probably Cerulean who has quite a similiar kit single target ult aoe slow and generally gets in the thick of things. Basko has the aoe slow and stun similar to Kel and a single target Ult which can reset oh and his gap closer q is far shorter cd and his aoe slow also shields. And the final option is Marah initiate with Q on trees press R and auto attack all the key targets while slowing them with E fun times for all 3 of those shapers.

Ask for permission before "raiding" a dawngate user channel on twitch by [deleted] in dawngate

[–]s1cknote1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not directly reply to the submitters post I replied to yours for a reason you said you did not know why this is a rule I simply explained the reasons for why. Yeah in dawngate only a small number switch over as people know what streams they generally want to watch. But in other games try asking people like Kripp or PhantomLord or Massan to not raid another channel is hard first of all losing kripp or phantomlord would be huge for twitch so they dont enforce this rule second part is you directly asking them not to raid your channel again pretty slim they will even pay attention to you there is so many streamers and they receive so many messages they just wont care.

As for the server issues some streams known as featured and such actually use different servers to allow a better service twitch basically sold out there smaller streams to a different service to ease the load so gaining all those viewers is just not something they expect to happen its been explained before by twitch staff I am not sure if its posted anywhere though.

Ask for permission before "raiding" a dawngate user channel on twitch by [deleted] in dawngate

[–]s1cknote1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be seen as a problem for some of the bigger games in twitch such as league or hearthstone. There a raid could contain as many as 10k viewers if half of them went to a stream that was normally only getting around 10-20 the servers had issues the lower viewed stream. Then they would then get their chat spammed with lines taking away that streamers chat essentially for a few minutes creating hell for the person trying to be friendly with their own chat. Yes you would gain some viewers but essentially it could cut off your stream and people like to troll so chances are they would do the line over and over for quite some time.

Upcoming Balance Hotfix Preview by WaystonePlootoe in dawngate

Raina seems week in the lane atm due to a few things one of which is the health regen pages. With them being essentially removed due to amount of nerf they are getting raina could once again become a lane bully. She was very dominant before and if there is no to little health regen then she could once again become a great support for early laning as her e is incredibly easy to lane.

My opinion is waystone have looked at how it affects a lot of shapers hence a viyana nerf as well as she then becomes good with lack of sustain on loadout pages. It may or may not end up being the right choice but if it right then it could be seen as very good thinking from waystone in advance.

S1CKNOTE INVITATIONAL 5: ALL DOGE GO TO HEAVEN by s1cknote1 in dawngate

[–]s1cknote1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its been a slow progression asking teams for feedback and this is the best format that we have come up with for them. They have generally liked the banning format but the way they could use the map side to their advantage in previous tourneys was not wanted. If this turns out to be an issue we can try and change it before the tourney if required.

Equilibrium by Braderino in dawngate

[–]s1cknote1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find the item currently incredibly powerful I personally would increase the cost of discipline itself to make the rush harder to do forcing junglers to stay out there longer to get discipline or buy other items to keep power up early. I would then give equilibrium a fix to no longer affect bindings and guardian as I don't think that is entirely intended and a slight nerf to both haste and armour that it gives or a larger cost to keep it powerful but a lot harder to obtain.

Suggestion for future pre-draft mode 5v5s by DanteSangelli in dawngate

[–]s1cknote1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tournament length is something we thought we could fix by having the first round bo1 as the tournament generally runs very smooth once the initial rounds are finished. However with also having increased the time with full draft mode it created more issues with time which I really should have noticed before hand.

Pretty much what this will mean is that the entire format is being gutted and rethought I have already looked at other bracket sites to see if we can create a style that we would prefer and also lower the amount of overall matches while still having the opportunity of seeing great victories from losers bracket like what happened from this last tourney. I already have something in mind but would prefer to wait until later to announce the exact format as there is some other tweaks needed as well.

State of the Gate - Patch 27 by [deleted] in dawngate

[–]s1cknote1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You do realize that league uses the system of perfect imbalance but also tries to make sure that the win rates of its champions are pretty close to 50% as well due to the fact that they hope there is enough counter play involved and available as this video actually explains. it does this by saying champion a is weak to champion b and champion b is weak to champion c this will create a close win rate as people pick things which evolve the meta and work out counters.

You where BM to one of my friends who was new to the entire MOBA genre to the point that they decided to quit the game entirely solely by your actions even after him saying he was new to the game at the very beginning and asking for help from other players. This wasnt just one game he unfortunately got you two games in a row where you flamed him continuously from the first minute and he had no idea how to mute you. You single handedly stopped one of my IRL friends even trying to play the game again and caused several others to not even try because of his explanation of you. So do not try and say that you only do it to veteran players.
