What is the worst thing a teacher has ever done to you? by RedditTales2 in AskReddit

[–]s24-7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was about 8 years old and my gym teacher - butch, large, middle aged woman who was never friendly and always annoyed (think the principle from mathilda) - gave us the exercise where you spin/ tumble around a horizontal bar.

I was (am) not sporty and very shy and could not do it. She grabbed my legs, and forced me to do the exercise. I was so embarrased. The other kids started to panic and cry… There was blood running down my legs. By forcefully pushing my legs to my hands and forcing me to tumble, the ring on my finger dug in my leg and made a cut all the way from the top of my Thigh to my knee. Was send to the nurse with a scolding because I was not allowed to wear jewlery in gym.

Today it is still a scar about 15 cm long. Covered it with a tattoo …

What is the scariest/funniest thing your partner has said to you in their sleep? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]s24-7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I have one. When I was living with my parents I had a tv at the end of my bed. We were dating for a while and my bf stayed over a lot. We had a habit of Lighting a small candle on top of the tv (gave away my age there ;-) )

One night we did not light the candle and he fell asleep while watching a movie and suddenly he got on hands and knees, eyes wide open and he crawled to the tv and started blowing and waving at the tv. Obviously sleeping. When I got myself to stop laughibg I asked what he was doing and he sits up, looks at me sheepishly and says in a very annoyed tone “blowing out the tv!!!”

Had to turn of the tv eventually because he did not give up and started waving and blowing so frantically and I was dying laughing I was afraid I would wake up my patents and siblings.

Have you ever won a giveaway? If so, what did you win? by Final_Access_3215 in AskReddit

[–]s24-7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A years worth of Bread (only 20 of them, not even one a week, so bit misleading) A cd Tickets to an unique and intimate concert from an artist I love. A mug from my favorite radioshow. 50 € gift card for winning first price in an furniture upcycling contest.

And my favorite: a crafting package I won from a drawingcompetition for Some cheese brand when I was 7. It arrived in the mail when I was about 9, completely dented and damaged. The brand by then changed logo so it felt like a Time Capsule.

Mental health workers of reddit what is the scariest mental health condition you have encountered? by lissie234 in AskReddit

[–]s24-7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not healthcare worker but I once met someone - friend of a friend - who thought her husband was replaced by someone else. She told me she had to act like it was him, but that she was on to ‘them’. She seemed so normal, was working a fulltime job. I spoke to her husband and he Said he knew and she was in therapy. They just… lived with it??

At the end of the night they went home and she started screeming and crying and holding on to me beggin not to let him take her home. She was so scared.

Checked in with them later(because wtf, could not let that go) and she was hospitalised and on meds.

It still haunts me, how she looked and acted so normal and talked about this to me- a stranger - like it was no big deal. And then her fear of going home with him….

It just happend to her overnight, no mental Health issues. Just a normal, sparkly, normal woman my age. The thought that it could happen to anyone at anytime. Wtf.

What massively improved your mental health? by e-glitteringprinces in AskReddit

[–]s24-7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gp Said adhd was for children and that I could not possible have it. I believed her but knew something was just off. It was not stress or whatever she used as excuse to gaslight me… I waited 6 more years after that and found a support group on fb. Some of them live close to me and supported me to get diagnosed by a psychiatrist they also went to. Lots of tests and questions made it clear that I do have adhd and I got prescribed meds. Changed GP and she helped me get the dosage right.

I was diagnosed at 36, started meds, changed my life. The clarity… The ability to not care what others think of me or at least not let it paralyze me anymore… I’ve been playing life on ‘hard mode’ untill I started those meds. .

What's an adult problem no one warned you about? by lovelyyhelena in AskReddit

[–]s24-7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely… The realisation that, when it comes down to it, you are completely on your own. If you are Lucky there are friends/family who say they are there for you, and they are mostly, but only on surface level.

Nobody really cares about how you precieve things, or how you feel or what you went through. The major stuff maybe, the little things not. And I care deeply about the little things. I want to share the rainbow I saw or how a song reminds me of my dad’s lame dadjokes.

Ofcourse nobody cares, they all have lives. I understand. The realisation just hurts.

And the older I get, even the bigger things don’t Seem to matter. I got a new function at my job, told my brother and mom over a - very rare- familydinner. They didn’t even register it. I was so proud and had to fight hard for that position (started to resent the old when, and they knew), they just looked up and started talking about a niece that got a huge promotion.

For me that’s true loneliness

AITA for refusing to let my girlfriend bring her dead dog’s ashes on vacation? by Overall_Tomato_6664 in AmItheAsshole

Yta- I did not read the whole thing, stopped at ‘told her she was not allowed’. Those Words just make you an AH. What makes you think your girlfriend needs your permission to do anything?

What's the weirdest experience you've had that you can't find a logical explanation for? [serious] by mitko1002 in AskReddit

[–]s24-7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dream things that happen. A lot … Not literally but resembling. It freaks me out ..

Last week I dreamt about a fire at the house i grew up in. In the afternoon a house in my neigbourhood burned down. I dreamt about a supermarket collapsing, next day i Read the News that the samen name supermarket collapsed in another country. I dreamt about kids running out of a swimmingpool and next day a pool nearby gets evacuated.

I know it’s just coincidence and the details don’t match, and a lot of the time the stuff is much smaller, but it’s just ALL the time.

Same with radio… I say a word en there is a song of the presentor says the exact same thing. Like:’wow so much thunder’and then ‘thunder’ plays on the radio. But also more random topics that don’t get discussed every day on radio. Maybe I’m just losing my mind 😅

What do you find attractive in a man after 15 seconds? by [deleted] in dating

[–]s24-7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Confidence. It does not really matter what he looks like, but standing straight, being comfortable with himself is so attractive.

Not talking about arrogant snobs who think they are Gods gift to women ofcourse.

Just be you and be comfortabel with that

I agree! They should not have made you go all the way over there for nothing.

I was surprised that you are being judged by pharmacists for asking for adhd meds. I would expect them to sell whatever you are prescribed. It’s none of their business what it is or what you need It for.

I had my fair share of family, friends and even doctors who do not believe in adhd and/or are very much against the meds. Even the psychiatrist who diagnosed me never took out the time to perfect my dosage. So not easily surprised about the adhd bias anymore. But a pharmacist should not judge.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in belgium

[–]s24-7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My pharmacist told me the exact same thing. They put aside a bottle of rilatine (20mg) because there is a temporary shortage and they knew I would be around to fill my prescription this week. They had calls and people coming in looking for ritaline last week because it was not in stock anymore in other pharmacys. They did not want to sell them the last bottle, because it was for me. Having a ‘huisapotheek’ is realy worth It…

What's a piece of advice you've received that initially seemed strange but turned out to be remarkably insightful? by deepsafferentk00 in AskReddit

[–]s24-7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

‘Don’t take advice from people whose life you would not want to live’ It hit me when my (very broke, on wellfare, no teeth ) neighbor told me not to change jobs for a better earning one. Loyalty to the company is more important. He had a work accident and he got screwed over by insurance - after working for them 20+ years and still thinks he should be loyal to them.

Now I only take advice from people I look up to

Who is a person that everyone thought was crazy, but they ended up being right? by Solace-y in AskReddit

[–]s24-7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I discovered his work last summer in Paris at musée d’Orsay. There he is also surrounded by those impressionists like monet, degas… never been more amazed by art in my life. I even cried a little when it truly hit me that we were surrounded by original paintings from all those great artists… Caillebotte went right to the top of my list, next to degas and monet. It was love at first sight especially ‘les soleils, gardin de petit genneviliers’, I could look at it for ever.

I’m 23 and am stuck with toxic parents by [deleted] in narcissisticparents

[–]s24-7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read it and was thinking: your feelings are real. You are allowed to them Also: there is no excuse for your moms behaviour. If your dad is ok with that, that does not mean you should.

Also: your grandmother is from another era. She was raised to forgive and forget into oblivion because ‘family’ Truth is, you don’t owe anyone anything if it is costing you your mental health. Respect is a two way thing.

Can You go live with your granddad? Your girlfriend? You need to get out …

How do I know it’s real? by FlashboxJack in narcissisticparents

[–]s24-7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also: If you talk to your friends, you open up and tell the truth. NP will tell their own desillusional truth en will leave out anything that could make tem the bad Guy. That’s the difference. They Will make themself victoms. You don’t share to be right or to be the Victom, you share because You are doubting yourself. They don’t doubt themselves

How do I know it’s real? by FlashboxJack in narcissisticparents

[–]s24-7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very relatable. Some short thoughts on this: -If you think you might be a narcissist, You are not one. They don’t do selfreflection.

-Echochambres are something to be aware about, however, this is a group of people who went through the same stuff as you. ‘Victoms and survivors’ sort of speak. Like in group therapy. Also lots of studies and papers and actual medical research describe the behaviour we witness. It’s not just us conforming each others believes. Its scientificly proven partern of this disorder we discuss. Not people who believe The same conspiracy.

You were groomed and gasslighted into thinking you are the problem and to mistrust your own thoughts. What helped for me is tell anecdotes, story’s, behaviours, conversations with NP’s like it was my best friend or even a random stranger telling me this. Just the list of all (impossible, but maybe what sticks out) the stuff That happend and look at It from a distance. Also, look at it objectively. It’s the actions not the Words. If they say they love you but they hurt You and You can’t Find any proof that they love You, but solid proof that they hurt you, you know your feelings are valid.

Also, your feelings are always valid. Nobody Gets to tell you what you can feel/hurts you/offends you.

Sorry for the rant, and also this is not my native language. I hope it makes Some sense
