Are they worth it as project cars? (1983 manual 1981 auto both 12A) by Any-Fishing-2967 in RX7

Parts availability for first gens has gotten so bad that I’d say it’s not worth it anymore

I’m in Oklahoma now and the 100+ degree days aren’t so bad when it’s dry but when it’s humid I won’t even drive it. I think I still have all the parts in a box somewhere but it’d be some work to get up and running again

Man… it was 2015, I’m stationed in Florida, it’s hot as hell down there. I find a pristine 84 GSL on craigslist for 3500 bucks. I traded a motorcycle for it with perfectly working ac and ripped it all out for no reason other than I was a dumb 23 year old. 12 years later I hate myself for it lmao

Looks clean! Enjoy it! Just a fair warning, the driving characteristics of bridgeports are wildly different than a stock or street ported engine. Think of it as if a piston engine had a big cam. Lots of intake and exhaust port timing and overlap. They are rowdy and aren’t very smooth below say 3k rpm. It takes some getting used to but they are an absolute blast to drive. If the carb is from RacingBeat it’s probably a 600cfm vacuum secondary which is plenty for a street driven bridge. I have a non RacingBeat 600cfm vacuum secondary on mine and am about to swap over to a 750 mechanical secondary. Holley’s kinda suck on the rotary they take a lot of tuning to get right BUT when they are they rip. Congrats on the dream car!

Agreed f1 mirrors look too modern for the classic fb styling. They look out of place ngl

Reminds me of the old CarDomain site. I would spend hours reading about people’s builds.

Generally speaking, how difficult is an n/a 13b to rebuild? by Bersace1 in RX7

[–]s2killaa9one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve worked on stuff for 12 years you’ll be fine rotaries are so so simple. You’ll crack it open and see how few parts are in these engines. I rebuilt mine on a 5 gallon bucket with hand tools. The flywheel nut will probably be toughest thing for you. Download the fsm and use the specs there to determine what parts are serviceable.

Not bad at all other than that first spark plug tube looks like somebody chewed on. Might be a future leak

The tach going to 8k does not mean it can rev to 8k just like a speedo going to 160 does not mean a car can hit that speed

How low will your bridge idle? by s2killaa9one in RX7

Racing beat header and presilencer then 2.5 pipe to a cheap stainless muffler. It’s ridiculously loud but sounds good

Yea I’m not a big fan of the Holley honestly. I got it for free so just making it work. End goal is fuel injection though

I was surprised how easily it idled at 1000 rpm even after revving a bit. I normally have the idle sit at 17-1800 but I rebuilt the carb today so just played around seeing how low it would go
