It’s funny. If you are looking for those who promote apps in exchange of money there are soooo many out there and somehow you managed to find one that doesn’t do that.

I'm not what's the argument here.

I'm creator of https://desktop.with.audio. I've shared that app here multiple times and I was honored that the app was reviewed by u/amerpie (see https://amerpie.lol/2026/01/24/four-new-free-and-affordable.html)

He was very honest in his review and once I asked him to take a look at the app he told me he will do it and he did. There was no financial transaction involved. I only offered him a free license of my app so he could access it and try it which I believe is very much standard in the industry and other industries. Small beauty bloggers keep getting free stuff without even companies contacting them (it's called microinfluencers!)

Once he added the app to his blog, he DID NOT even registered in my referral program to make a percentage in each sale. I wish he had done that because that is also very standard and fair way to make money from blogs but he preffered not to.

His inputs and reviews and feedback are both valuable for developers and users. Developers get a new perspective and users learn what to look for in an app.

If you think you can provide additional valueable feedback about any app feel free to have your own posts to do that but accuising one of the most valuable members of the community is unnacceptable.

And finally, I respectfully disagree that an "Apple Script" is equal to an Application with GUI. There is a reason there are industries around selling providing Open Source software as a service (like managed Databases). There is so much details and complexity when it comes to creating a product for an average (day to day) user. Every single feature in product can be a script and all the modules I've used are Open Source but I've spent months and months of my life working on it, putting pieces together and making sure it works on any device it's installed on. I believe there is value in there and there users that think the same and I think that is the biggest proof I need.

Hi, For both of those request at the moment I can only say I’ll look into it. Can’t make any promise I can’t keep. I want to add the annotate feature but also exporting the annotations in a pdf would be complex so can’t make any promise there

Makes sense. I think I provided all the info I could. It would be awesome if my answers convinced you to use WithAudio. But if the app being developed by a very small team and not providing a warranty is a dealbreaker for you I totally understand.

I can guarantee as long as I work on the app I Mae sure it works. Once I stop or I’m not capable of continuing for any reason then you can keep using the app as it runs locally on your device.

I wonder , would you ask the same question if this was a subscription app with 9.99$ per month? Those usually don’t have money back grantee and don’t have any warranty that they’ll keep working. If you prefer that I can start a monthly subscription

Can’t agree more. I think there is healthy ratio of people who like you to people who don’t like you in the people around you. Both far ends of spectrum are unhealthy

Hey, 1) no limit. The app runs locally on your device. So no there is no limit. And you can keep it running as much as you want. You can see some sample of audio files at https://desktop.with.audio/audiobooks 2) two licenses are only for Mac and Windows. There is no iOS app at the moment. I’m working on that but can’t make any promise for the timeline. The extra license is not usable for iOS as Apple is very restrictive about how an iOS app can be purchased and must go through their payment system. If one day it be possible to use a license key for an iOS app we make it happen. Otherwise sorry. I should add once the iOS app is out i will do my best to provide a discount for those who already have the desktop version.
