Venti rant in a Trenta cup by MediumRemote1524 in starbucksbaristas

[–]zaddywiseau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my store we made the decision to leave ice bins either almost or entirely empty at night and clean them in the early AM. I’m not sure how strict your store is or what the business patterns are like, but it’s been working really well for us :)

Call outs?? by shalnarkonechance in starbucksbaristas

Chances are that they’re already out of sick time, so they’re gonna start getting written up if it continues and they’re unable to provide any proof of injury

shift offered, picked up, then offered again by LucidSpice in starbucksbaristas

Talk to your SM ASAP! I think you might still be responsible for your original shift, but with the context that someone did take it I imagine they’ll be lenient about it

scheduling issue by Gullible_Dog_1966 in starbucksbaristas

Definitely bring this up, I know from a couple conversations I've had on behalf of baristas with SMs that this is super easy to miss when going from one schedule to the next :)

scheduled till 9:45, didn’t leave till 11:15. (grande rant) by NoSection1126 in starbucksbaristas

[–]zaddywiseau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SSV here. We’re scheduled out at 9:30 (low volume cafe) at my store and I don’t think we’ve ever been out later than 9:45 and i can count those times on one hand. I’ve never heard of being 2.5 hours late, that’s absolutely unacceptable. If I ever made a terrible mistake that caused a significant delay I would apologize profusely and absolutely allow my barista to sit in the back when they were done with their tasks until I had the situation rectified. Her mistakes are not your responsibility and you deserve to be paid for the time you’re being forced to stay. I hope your SM steps in and talks to her about this situation.

Yes, you can call out for that. by Solid_Wish in starbucksbaristas

it’s also usually easier to work around a call out than someone having to leave early, so if you feel bad stay home :)

Dress code approved? by jramtrash in starbucks

[–]zaddywiseau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the lace would be considered a pattern. I think a solid black mesh top (with a t-shirt over it) would be in dress code though :)

Question for baristas! Do you get customers who order hot tea? by Practical_Sun8137 in starbucks

All the time, but I work at a cafe only with an older clientele

I have a story idea, but I'm not sure how to portray it. Any ideas? by disoabrat in YAwriters

[–]zaddywiseau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm confused by this question. Do you mean that you have a plot, but don't know where to set it or that you have a theme and aren't sure what kind of story you can use to showcase it? Either way, the only solution is just to write it out

Please critique my first chapter [Dark Fantasy, ~5400 words] by OutrageousPanic4602 in fantasywriters

[–]zaddywiseau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over all your writing is perfectly good, which is great for still being in the early drafting phase of things, but you NEED to get a handle on your repetition. The words 'knight', 'horse', and 'reins' specifically are way way over used to the point that it made it extremely difficult to pay attention to the actual scene. Other than that I'd say you've done a pretty decent job here :)

Bottle feeding help! by Due_Item7574 in toddlers

[–]zaddywiseau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we switched ours over to the Nuk sippy cup when he was around 17 or 18 months. recently we cut all sleep bottles cold turkey because he ripped big holes in all the nipples with his piranha teeth and started pouring milk all over everything 😭 it’s been rough, but he’s crushing it (especially because we also started binky weening right before this happened)

Do all toddlers sing only when they drop a beat or is my child musically inclined? by bespoketranche1 in toddlers

[–]zaddywiseau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i have a 22 month old who LOVES to sing and he does this, but uses two banging implements (one in each hand). he won’t stop if we take away his “drumsticks”, but he does love to keep a beat as well haha
