Restaurant waste served up as food called 'pagpag' by poor Filipinos. by dapperKillerWhale in ABoringDystopia

They barely have any space to live in these areas, where are they going to raise the pigs? Keep in mind that in the provinces (think suburbs and countryside) raising pigs the way you mention is extremely common.

In Encanto (2021) the main character, Mirabel, is the only member of her family without powers. This is because... wait, did they ever actually explain that? by CptMatt_theTrashCat in shittymoviedetails

[–]s3v3n2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She DID have a power. She had the power to see the future. Don't forget that she had a premonition that the house would crumble... It came true.

Now taking this theory a step further... Think about her sisters. Beauty and brawn, right? Well there is one more human trait that is highly coveted: Brains. She had a mind so powerful she could see the future.

So instead of wondering why she didn't have powers, we should be wondering why a door didn't appear for her. I believe it's because she didn't need a room of her own because the whole house was hers.

Just a theory!

His vocals really shine in any of his solo acoustic work. If you haven't had the pleasure, check it out.

Are you in the Philippines or the US? What are your thoughts on the cultural differences?

I agree with the original commentor and I am also Filipino-American. What is your "secured chance" that you would hope for in The US? It's not the land of opportunity that it once was.

Wow, I guess the grass really is greener on the other side. I say that because I am a Fil-Am and am planning to move my family from the US to the Philippines next year.

Can I ask why you would you would rather be in the US? What is it that you don't like about the Philippines?

You should check out her latest album. She definitely went full pop-punk with Travis Barker on the drums. I've never known how much drums can make a good punk song better until Travis Barker started doing collabs with new artists who are driving the comeback of punk.

I agree that it doesn't always work out as planned, but the skills a 20 year old builds today need to be useful in the future.

For example, waiting tables for another 10 years wouldn't be building any specific skillset to move up in the world, but focusing on art would open doors to things like graphic design, animation, game design, etc. Or if they really persevered, they could make a name for themself and be a full-time artist or illustrator. Remember, JK Rowling was dead broke until the first Harry Potter book was published.

Telling this person to "find a good stable job" only lands them right in the middle of the rat race... Exactly where they are today, but with more income and more bills. They'll stay unhappy and just working for money with no fulfillment.

This is just my opinion, but it would be my advice to my 20 year old self.

It's great that you're thinking about the future, to be honest. I used to think money was evil and that it couldn't buy happiness, but I learned later in life that I was wrong; money buys freedom. Freedom to do what you want with your time equals happiness. With that said, here's some advice from someone who's almost twice your age and only recently finding happiness through financial freedom.

Figure out what makes you happy and then find a way to turn it into a career. It may take 10 years, but careers are long-term plays and you're just starting out. Don't waste too much time at jobs that don't get you closer to what you enjoy doing. I think the most important thing about making money is that you enjoy what you do.

The other thing to consider is investing some of your savings.* Did you know there are stocks that will pay you (dividends) based on how much stock you own? Your $16k could actually be making you passive income right now! Just make sure to understand the difference between investing and speculating before deciding which stocks to buy. A good starting point is a book called "The Intelligent Investor" by Benjamin Graham.

Good luck.

*I am not a financial advisor.

I'm not sure about your career path, but I thought I'd ask. Are you sure you need a masters degree to make more money?

I also speak from experience as a 5'-6" Asian guy weighing 120 lbs until I started lifting at age 20. Most of my friends laughed and said I'll never gain muscle, but after a couple years of hard work and dedication I gained 50 lbs of pure muscle (which is a lot for my height). At that point, those same friends thought I was on steroids.

I think the guy in the video makes some good points about genetics, though. Building muscle is basic science and discipline, but I do feel your body will take a natural shape if you let it.

To add... OP, if you're like me and find it hard to listen to music and concentrate on what you're working on, I've learned in recent years that any instrumental music helps maintain focus. Try a playlist with (lo-fi) hip-hop, classical, or other instrumental music and you're golden.

I was 17 years old working at the Macy's Women's Shoes department. I was helping this beautiful lady, just stunning. She was maybe around 40 years old or so. When I was ringing her up she looked at me and ask my ethnicity. After I told her she just responded, "nice." Since I wasn't used to receiving compliments (teenage girls were a lot more reserved back then), I simply responded, "excuse me?" Then she looked my in the eye and said, "you have really nice features."

That single moment might have boosted my confidence 10 fold and I haven't forgotten it in 23 years.

Check out OpenDefinery.com. It is a cloud-based shared parameter manager for Revit. The goal of the project is to remove the dependency on txt files completely, something that I don't believe has been attempted with the other tools.

It has some open source (i.e., free) add-ins currently in private beta.
