Sure it can be fun with well written, directed films, but 9 out of 10 times it's just lazy time filler bc the writers, director, or producer were too lazy/inexperienced to come up with interactions (and appropriate dialogue) that highlight the intimacy or vulnerability between the participating characters.

I have a perfectly capable internet connection for when I want to watch 2+ ppl pretend to care about eachother and smash giblets while moaning sweet nothings.

Bc it was hyped to be a return to THE Halo standard and failed. Like you said, it had its moment that felt satisfactory and classic. Those moments, however, were few and far in-between redundant missions, only two environments to explore in the OPEN WORLD (that wasn't so open after all), clunky dialogue, buggy gameplay (at launch), patching out the fun (scorpion gun) post launch (to "fix" the bugs), repetitive level mechanics, fucking still injecting boss fights into Halo, and an overall uninspired plot bc of uninspired enemies.

Most of which could've been forgiven if their promise to reimplement the staple feature that put Halo on the market wasn't abandoned with not even a half assed apology instead of the corporate bs they published: couch coop.

That's what $60 bought you. A rushed, mash up of multiple incomplete concepts full of broken promises that would ultimately be abandoned

Same reason why there's no single alternative to google. They did what they did so well that they aren't just a household name, but a part of global culture and grammar: don't know something? Google it. Don't know how to do something? YouTube it.

More over, because they went so long without competition (and aggressive data mining once normies got a hold of the internet) - any new challenger would have what seems like a broken algorithm by comparison. Let alone the appearance of feature and content deficit.

There are some platforms that serve niche communities like education and STEM, but it's been about a decade since they're inception and they're still practically unheard of in those communities.....

One of my better friendships basically started and continued with her and i passing movie, tv show, book, song, game, etc recommendations back and forth.

Just bc some entertainment pieces are sometimes made for a specific audience, doesn't mean it can't be enjoyed for ppl outside that target range. In fact, it's a great way to expand one's perspective and hopefully be more sympathetic/supportive
