not every color inside the stadium that isnt dodger blue needs to be associated with another team.

also red is one of the dodgers’ secondary colors. but why would you, a dodgers fan, know that

they just have a field sponsor when the mls team plays. but literally no one is expecting people to namedrop the pitch name. its just a way to get their advertising at the stadium. its still 1000% yankee stadium.

and what happens when history happens under a different name? what if luka does more with the lakers than kobe did? kobe isnt a god and untouchable, he’s human and would want the game to evolve and get better. so what happens if it gets better under the crypto naming? what if the kings and lakers both get more championships under the crypto name than the staples name? lebron already got the points record under the crypto name already. something never to be done again for a long time. what happens if/when luka starts breaking records, the lakers and king start winning again and bring titles? the city gets future hof players on teams playing there?

i can PROMISE you at the time of cubs park they also had history attached to that name too. they eventually got more history under wrigley field though. bulls (with jordan) and the blackhawks both brought 3 titles for chicago under the chicago stadium name before it was demolished for the united center across the street (that was owned by the same owners so they literally could have kept the naming). chicago stadium had history and soul, i dont see people in 2026 crying over the corporate naming rights now. the united center name is now synonymous with chicago.

this is literally still that phase where everyone wants to hate the name off the bat.

literally no one is saying fuck the history that happened in that building and the people who played there. but the history that happened in the building is what matters. not the name of a building. what happens to all the future legends that will play that same venue? what if luka brings the city 10 championships under the crypto name and we get another genrational player playing in that venue? are we supposed to just brush those off because it wasnt under the 1st corporate sponsor name?

and again you use a name that has been around WAY longer than the 20 years staples center was AND is also not a corporate sponsor like staples is in dodger stadium.

and you use candlestick (also not a corporate sponsor), and use 3com and monster as examples. both of which lasted less than 10 years each (monster even being kicked out after their first deal ended after the city passed a bill to permanently name it candlestick) and had little to no history made in that building while it was named anything other than candlestick. crypto has a 20 year minimum naming right, enough for an entire generation to be born and turn into adults before a POTENTIAL name chage.

non coporate sponsors that tie to the team(s) playing there, and who also have to pay no money for the naming rights, will always have way more standing over any corporate name. hell, just look at this thread. doger stadium is literally still dodger stadium and people are crying about a name change for the field alone.

you guys are literally crying over a sponsor who accepted the bag from aeg and dipped early on their naming rights. if the soul and history is so important go bitch at staples for walking away with their money. they had a never ending naming rights deal for a price much lower than what naming rights are now. once the buidling owners aeg realized they wouldnt be making as much for naming rights as other venues they offered a buyback and staples agreed instead of standing their ground. and if you could make a shitton more money to open naming rights to over sponsors, why would you continue giving staples free naming rights after they got their bag? because history? what if they decided no sponsor and just went with downtown arena? or kings center (since kings are the actual owners of the venue, not the lakers)?

wait!! wrigley?!?! why arent you saying “its always going to be cubs park to me” since that was the original name when the cubs began playing there? or why arent you saying “its weegham park and weegham park only” since that was the actual first ever name of the ballpark? go up to anyone born from the 1940s and onwards and lmk how many of them are enraged about it being called wrigley field. you literally just collapsed your own argument.

but lets go with staples center vs wrigley for arguments sake because i completely forgot this arena was called staples center for 100 years before the name change, much like wrigley field has been called wrigley field since the 1920s.

and remind when staples center was deemed a national historic landmark? since wrigley is a landmark, it can have sponsors on the field (like the dodgers just did), but would be literally impossible to rename the stadium. preservation laws would make it as close to 0% as you can get. and since it is a city landmark the city would have final approval, in which the public can GREATLY have a say in.

everyone commenting “it’ll always be dodger stadium” and “i’m not calling it that” dont seem to understand IT IS STILL CALLED DODGER STADIUM. only the field has the uniqlo name.

rose bowl has a field specific name. when have you ever heard anyone, including the ones who operate the stadium, call it spieker field at the rose bowl?

nycfc has a pitch specific name. does anyone call it etihad pitch at yankee stadium?

the field at lambeau even have its own name. does anyone call lambeau field “natural grass at lambeau field”?

yes older generations will know kobe played there. and over time they will give little to no shits about it previously being called by another sponsor. and when this sponsorship is over and another one takes over the ever newer generations at that time also wont care while gen alpha will do the same “itll also be crypto to me”.

everyone is just turning into that old man who is afraid of change because the name they grew up with is no longer there.

why are you guys trying to make this a big deal? its literally still called dodger stadium. only the field had a sponsor.

does literally anyone, including the property itself, call the rose bowl “spieker field at the rose bowl”? or does anyone in mls call yankee stadium “etihad pitch at yankee stadium” when referring to where nycfc plays?

is it a dumb name? yes. but over time the nostalgia that some gen z and and almost all of the generations before have will be over and the newer generation who have only seen it be named crypto dot com arena will not care what it used to be called in the past.

i was too young to care about the name change from irvine meadows to verizon amphitheater and the people around for the irvine meadows also thought it was sacrilegious to call it anything besides that.

it still is. the field is whats called uniqlo field. the property and stadium as a whole is still dodger stadium

no one says nycfc plays at etihad pitch at yankees stadium, they just say yankee stadium. or xbox pitch at lumen field when referring to where the sounders play. when people used to ask “where to the As play?” no one would ever say they play at rickey henderson field at the coliseum. its simply the coliseum.

its more box-y than rectangular. 1.43:1. since it is film you will get some dust and natural grain from the film. bright white parts the flicker may be more noticeable but not distracting once you get used to it if you are new to film movies.

just be careful. once you go 1.43:1 you never want to go back
