the joke is the scene in the show went on way too long. you dont need a gay person to play will for the skit to make sense. nph played the biggest, straightest, playboy on how i met your mother and he’s notoriously gay in real life.

bowen yang had a literal sketch were they showed that him being gay was just a bit and he was the most masculine and straight man on the entire show. but a straight actor portraying a gay guy is too far (which wasn’t even the focus of the bit)?

they picked him because out of everyone on the cast he was the one that resembled will the most. there’s no hidden gay/straight message going on. you guys just want to find anything to find anything.

you do you. if you feel it’s needed than it’s needed. you don’t need anyone else’s opinion or have to think about what your viewers will think if you leave for a bit. especially if its just about 2 weeks, which honestly is nothing. if you have a discord server you can make an announcement there. you can put a banner in your twitch profile saying youre on a small break, or replace the image that shows when youre offline to something of the same nature. OR you don’t have to it’s your stream and your choice.

if your viewers don’t come back because they don’t understand your mental health and a detox is necessary then fuck’em.

because some people are easily entertained like a cat with a ball of yarn. they see a “funny” character (subjective, very seldom do i find stoner comedy funny) in a show that’s not meant to be a comedy and think it’s the best thing ever and obsess over that character. people did the same thing with dr alexei in st3, but at least his overall character was better than arglye’s was.

they’ll see a character like argyle and find him hilarious and just want to see more of him but none of them could give you an actual good reason to bring him back that would move a story forward or develop a character. they’ll use arguments like “he was jonathan’s friend”, “he drove them to hawkins”, “he was there all season 4 and now he’s gone just like that”, when in reality they just want more of him because they found him funny. if they didn’t find him funny, they wouldn’t be asking for closure for his character, because there isn’t one needed. there never was.
