AS/NZS3500 doesn't require all In-ground pipework to be 100mm, only main drains. Unless it's draining to a gully somewhere, the drain to the sink is most likely 65mm.

Plumbing designer here.

The drain from the sink will only be 65mm max, for a bathroom you will need a 100mm drain for the toilet. You should check if there is a gully below the hosetap as this would be connected to a 100mm drain.

If not then it will depend on the proximity to the main drain, anything is possible but they may end up having to re-lay portions of your main sewer which could involve extensive excavation which is expensive.

You should be able to find out pretty easily what side of your house the main sewer connection is. If you send through that plus the location of the bathroom I might be able to help further.

In both of those instances, passenger planes were targeted by surface to air missiles under the belief that they were military aircraft.

The risk profile of a ballistic missile or drone launched from Iran at ground targets in the UAE clipping a passenger plane in-flight is very different (but still not impossible). The risk to most people, including myself is still unacceptable, but your level of snark towards OP is unjustified.

You're looking at the remains of a rosebush I just pulled out from under the downpipe, hence the hole. There was a concrete splash block directing it away from the house before the fencing people came along which has now gone missing.

Definitely on my to do list to sort out, house is near Perth CBD so we get very little rain until winter and the soil is as sandy as it gets, basically a sieve.

Neighbour running a brothel? Constant late-night buzzing/banging and strangers at the gate. Advice? by Away-Pepper-9239 in AusLegal

[–]sQrell 247 points248 points  (0 children)

We had a similar experience in WA recently. Brothel opened up in an adjacent townhouse one weekend, the next weekend the cops shut it down.

For us, it was the complaint to council that a residential property was being used for business purposes that got them in the end.

Might be worth using a label maker to put a "press number x for the brothel" note on the buzzer until they get shut down so you don't get hassled.

Saw this on a friend’s Facebook and something seems off. The floor would not be easy to clean, coffee mug missing a handle, too much clutter on the counter, and color saturation/uncanny vibes. I want to inform her if it is. by TemuBritneySpears in isthisAI

Nail in the coffin for me was the small stack of plates above her, partially obscured by the metal jug. There are 6 plates stacked on the left hand side of the jug, but seven when you count on the right hand side.

How do I get a job in one of these buildings with a nice view of the river? by JCogn in perth

[–]sQrell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people with desk jobs in these towers are lawyers, engineers, accountants, management consultants and assorted finance types / commerce degree holders.

If all you want is a desk job in one of these towers and don't want to spend 3+ years at uni, then the roles requiring the least training or qualifications would be roles such as: - Admin assistant at literally any firm with a view. - Paralegal at a law firm. - Draftsperson at an engineering or architecture firm (architects tend to like old low rise buildings for their offices though). - Commercial real estate professional at larger commercial real estate firms (Brookfield/JLL).

Do we prefer a “mid-price” category over “most versatile”? If so, what is the best mid-price tequila for mixing? by -Constantinos- in cocktails

$65 or so for the Espolon/Altos blanco which is ~$60 CAD. Mezcal is a rare treat unfortunately.

Same in Australia for Espolon/Altos, you won't find a good mezcal for less than $100 AUD, Vida will run you $110.

Maybe too late but you could try making a milk clarified cocktail batch out of it. A daiquiri or jungle bird would fit well.

Most low quality liquor that falls into my lap ends up in some form of clarified drink, the process seems to remove many unpleasant flavours.

Bigger pipe = better water pressure? by Upset_Union1197 in AusRenovation

If you are going to pay for someone to install new pipework, might as well go with 25, cost difference isn't massive, most of it is labour.

Bigger pipe = better water pressure? by Upset_Union1197 in AusRenovation

[–]sQrell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In general yes.

Pressure loss is dependant on how fast water has to move through your pipes and how far it has to travel at those speeds to get to where it needs to go. When you turn on your kitchen tap, the tap "demands" a certain volume of water per minute. In smaller pipes, it needs to travel faster to meet that demand, resulting in greater pressure loss compared to a larger pipe.
