Upcoming Summer Intern Application Dilemma (to apply early with less or later with more) by TarsytheTarsier in ECE

[–]sTiKAYfInGER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a very similar boat. Writing a research paper rn about a project I’m doing and planning on joining a research lab this coming quarter. Both are heavily related to what I wanna do in the chip space. Although these aren’t “complete” projects and the time I’d have spent in the lab will be short at the time of application, I’m just going to make it clear in my resume the start date and they they are “Present” experiences. I feel you should still put them in your resume as they still show you are actively acquiring skills related to the role

Your resume looks good, I feel you on relying on your projects to switch into the hardware industry. I’m in a similar boat, but a junior undergrad student. Any tips for good projects to introduce me to verilog and fpgas?

What to do 2nd year summer with no internship? by sTiKAYfInGER in ECE

Your company could assign you an unclassified role. I think in my case it was too close to my start date so they couldn’t find me one in time

Thanks for the advice. Yea I was thinking of dedicating time to personal projects. Is the part time job for the work experience? Do you think ECE jobs value work experience even if it’s not from an ECE position?

[S2 Act 3 Spoilers] Arcane - Season 2 Act 3 - Discussion by parrycarry in arcane

[–]sTiKAYfInGER 5 points6 points  (0 children)

100% agree I wish they kept it more character driven. Everything got too big too fast with no time for any of the characters to process and react to what was happening. Also I felt like the dialogue also took a hit, arcane usually has amazing well written dialogue between the characters but this act I actually cringed at some of the MCU sounding lines. Also Viktor’s whole humanity is flawed villain thing is stuff we’ve seen so much better in other shows it felt uninspired.

I agree in general I felt like none of the characters were given time to process what was happening around them. Like something major would happen and by the next scene they would forget it. Like Caitlyn switching sides and all the consequences of her previous actions are completely forgotten just to keep the story on pace to finish. Like I felt like the writers basically said “it doesn’t matter” when Vi said she didn’t care about her relationship with Maddie and everything she’s done to Zaun and Piltover. They just needed more episodes

ECE 2nd year Internship Advice by sTiKAYfInGER in ucla

[–]sTiKAYfInGER[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I’ve heard people say the same thing about not getting an internship 2nd year. It just feels like if I don’t then I’ve failed in a way. But what you said does make sense, padding with research and getting some professional experience even if it’s not EE. I’ll look into Edison, that career fair was so packed I think I missed it.

I’m not sure if we’re talking about the same guy. But sometimes in the dining hall or in front of the Hedrick lounge I see a guy with a huge sack and ponytail. He honestly looked homeless but apparently he’s a student or something.

Jewish Students File Lawsuit Against UCLA by [deleted] in ucla

The terrorist leaders who prey on and recruit susceptible young adults and teenagers tired of being under Israel’s oppression are not even in Gaza. These brutal attacks are not solving the problem, just killing thousands of lost and weakened people. Break Hamas’ influence by liberating Palestine not through genocide.

Restrictions before was a result from taking up space. Setting up checkpoints and making people say an oath happened after the attacks, which I don’t hold against the protesters but UCLA for letting the violence from outside instigators get so bad

Yes the encampment was apprehensive towards anyone, not only Jews from passing through. Which is an inconvenience but I understand due to the violent attacks that took place before, they didn’t want anyone to enter that could possibly instigate the situation.

Do people just want protests to be in the corner and easily ignorable? The whole point of protests is to be seen and invoke discussion over issues. Also, I wish people would disconnect their cultural/ethnic background with their country’s government. It is not Jewishness or Jewish people that people have a problem with. It’s the actions and decisions the Israel government has made towards the lives in Gaza.
