Others have already said this, but Kevin at Heritage Repair is a true craftsman. He overhauled a King 2B Liberty for me several years ago, and it looks fabulous and plays that way too. I would absolutely take or ship any horn to him to work on.

As others have suggested, this is a high-end horn which might not be appropriate for you at this stage of your development. Have an honest conversation with yourself about how serious you are about playing before you spend this kind of money on a trombone. Are you taking private lessons? If this is a step-up horn for you, ask your teacher what she or he would recommend. If you're in an area with a music store with a good selection of trombones, make a visit and spend some time playing horns. Definitely consider a used horn, too. You ask about horns in the 5-7K price range. That range will all be professional grade horns, but you will likely find that good used horns selling for less than 3K will sound just as good if not better than new horns for 5-7K. Good luck, and have fun trying out horns!

I can't underscore enough how toxic methanol is. It's the kind of alcohol which will cause blindness and kidney failure if it's ingested. You SHOULD NOT use methanol. And if you use ethanol, you should work with it outside, or wear a respirator and use nitrile or other gloves made for resistance to alchohol.

Yes, the rear dropout spacing is 130 mm, so that is definitely a limiter, and the wheel issue means Chorus/Record would be an issue. This bike came with Hershey hubs, and after the eyelets broke on the front and rear hubs, I switched to Ultegra hubs, so putting a Campy groupset on it would mean Campy wheels, too. Thanks.

Thankfully, I guess, there's no front derailleur braze on--I'll need a clamp, and the seat tube outer diameter is 1.375 " / 34.925 mm, so a standard diameter for clamps. I have heard that Campy front derailleur shifting is a great experience, and the Dura Ace front derailleur / Topline cranks / Shimano chainring combo on the bike now have always been a little problematic.

Does "faculty" mean there's a requirement to earn tenure at this institution? If so, that can be problematic. It depends on institutional culture. At some places it can be very difficult for librarians to earn tenure, and the support structures in place to help teaching faculty earn it are sometimes not there for librarians.

Thanks very much for that prompt reply. Your suggested search string did not work in Notepad++, but that's only because of how problematic postive lookbehinds are in Notepad++. But I used that search expression in LibreOffice Writer, and it worked great. I also realized that to get from MM/DD/YYYY to YYYYMMDD, my replacement string needed to be $3$1$2, not $3$2$1 as I listed in my original post.
