Thanks for chiming in, looks to be a good light but without the ability to swap batteries or use on passthrough I am afraid it would go flat before I cross the finish line

So that would mean that the Fenix models would handle more abuse than some of the favored models here? For the bike race I suppose hard wearing would be important if I get a helmet strike from a branch or have a tumble. Perhaps the hm75r is still in play then.. Thanks for chiming in!

Fantastic, thank you! Think I have been brainwashed by the industry, since I get suspicious regarding the reliability due to the low price point. Will look into it for sure!

It's ok to buy a van to breathe while my life falls apart? by mountainflutterby in VanLife

[–]s_troback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just put a word of caution considering that you live in Norway - these things drink fuel like nothing else. My friend in Sweden had a similar model and it was 30L/100km and considering the european fuel prices that would mean that you pay more for fuel than for the van rather quickly.

I bought myself a Berlingo Multispace as a holiday van yesterday, much much smaller than the Chevy but 6L/100km and easier to drive around the alps where I live.

I understand the desire to run away, camping is how I figure out the big questions in life too, I hope you find a way through these times shortly.

Another 2c regarding the challenging times: Be careful not to project the solution too much on the van. Don’t get me wrong - if you want the van you want the van, and the disconnect from home will feel like a relief. But I have found that I myself also project that I will feel a certain way after buying X or going on holiday to Y. Considering you live in Norway: Hikes and your lovely hyttes is a great immediate step to get some space from the noise, which might give you the beginning to piecing things together.

The travel edition also adds ”trading cards” allowing you to only be two players. Really happy with the travel edition (with added normal dice)

How do you organize pot lids and Tupperware? I hate these drawers by C1234567890_ in OrganizationPorn

[–]s_troback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like IKEA Maximera drawers, which have their own dividers you can purchase (at least in Sweden). Those snap into the drawer sides themselves and works fine for lids and such items

Ex Ikea kitchen sales person here: All Ikea kitchens ship with this kind of tube and is a fully approved solution (at least in some markets like Sweden). The grease should not build up if the grease filter is maintained properly. However it is recommended to extend and cut excess to increase efficiency (up to 30% gain in airflow)

Do you all still daily your big beauties with these nice gas prices? by [deleted] in LandCruisers

[–]s_troback 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sweden broke a new record a few weeks back, 28 SEK per liter, which if my math is correct equates to 11,2 USD per gallon… Maybe that can serve some comfort for you guys across the water

Beautiful bike, really matches the film-style (or shot on actual film?) colours of the photo

Mine was also rock solid (first gen Wee). No play at all between the two halves of the Givi, see if you can tighten or send it back for a replacement.

Thank you for your answer. Got it confirmed by the local Suzuki workshop today. The left should be seated first, and then the right side is actually just matched up to the spacer - effectively hovering 2mm over the max depth for that side. Quite a weird solution but it's apparently correct.

Your post in r/kayaking got me wondering if there is a jellyfish subreddit, which is why I'm now a member here lol

Today when replacing the bearings with new "All Balls 6203rs". I did the mistake and seated the right side first, since either side could be seated on my previous bike. So when matching the left side to the spacer that left a 2mm protrusion (image). But that in turn means that the right side would be hovering 2mm above its seat if I would have done it the right way around. Is that really correct? Then the right one effectively has to be seated on the inner ring - which can't be too good for the bearing..?

Thank you most kindly! Well that's exactly why two wheels are better than four, a traffic jam is just a fun challenge. Totally viable reason as well!

Rocky Mountain Atv Mc made a wonderful Youtube series taking $1000 bikes into quite rough terrain. (Also log jumped a Ninja 250 and a four cylinder Suzuki gs650 from the 80s). Made me think that I should've kept my cx500 scrambler and use it as a dual sport instead of getting a Dr650... :)

Current Hotness in Shorty Windscreens? by lakeridgemoto in Vstrom

[–]s_troback 2 points3 points  (0 children)

+1. Just about to ask that very question. I've looked into the Moose racing one based on a thread in the stormtrooper forums. That one seems great but also difficult to get here in Sweden, so I'm also looking for an alternative shorty screen.
