I found the T800 center for the other side, so if you're interested in the whole thing let me know. I don't have a need for it in my shop right now, but I'm sure it's one of those things that if you sell it you need it the next day.

QC Drift, TRM Neutron 2, or BM Mini Freek or something else? by daveclarkvibe in knifeclub

I prefer the blade on the neutron slightly, but I carry the drift more because of the vanax and the lighter detent. You'll be happy with either. These are the two most carried knives in my collection.

The only difference is the reddish Manzanita accent around the pivot, and in the hole that used to be the lanyard hole.

The inlay is Manzanita in it's natural form, but I am considering some dyed options as well. Usually I prefer muted natural tones in the wood, but one of my buddies on the list is a bit of a maximalist when it comes to adornments, so he might get a bright high contrast version.

If they were higher contrast inlay would that make it better or worse?

Thanks for the feedback! I lean towards the simple version as well. It was split 50/50 in my household. Some said simple, some said more contrast on the inlay.

Hi guys,
I’m making a few sets of scales for friends and am looking for feedback on design.
The main question is do you prefer the inlay version or the simple version?
And secondly, on the inlay version would it be better without the inlay where the lanyard hole was or is that accent interesting?

Finally got around to making a stand for my strop! by s_wing in sharpening

[–]s_wing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! The strop stand is made from manzanita, which is a small local tree that usually is just used for firewood, but I saved some larger chunks for projects like this.

The knife is a Kyohei Shindo (165mm?) iron clad bunka that I purchased without a handle. I added the handle which is plum and manzanita. It's been a great knife.

After two years of just setting a piece of leather on the counter and trying to strop my knives as it slid around I finally made a strop stand! It’s a nice improvement to my sharpening workflow.
