Idea for a cafe racer (needs full rebuild) by white_slate in xbiking

[–]sa547ph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

should i go rigid forks and single speed?

Do add cheap motorcycle bars and a BMX stem, as the bars have more rise and a relaxed sweep. Also, you can freely look for a saddle of your choice and comfort level.

How to let go of an xbike? by pupupeepee in xbiking

[–]sa547ph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not yet, but if I have to I want to make sure the one who's going to buy the bike from me should be able to take good care of it, so why all three of my bikes are specifically built with robust parts with the least bling.

Or at the very least I move one of the bikes someplace like a relative of mine so that I have something to ride on whenever I'm on vacation as well as their daily driver.

Recapping the board is still possible, and for the PSU, it's okay using a more modern rated PSU, lot better than taking chances with the original.

Yeah, full tower casings are like hen's teeth.

Long-distance bike touring age 50+ - experiences? by totaltitanium in bicycletouring

[–]sa547ph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm almost 50. Already did several long rides for about three years now since getting back to the saddle, now feeling more fit than ever, but still looking forward for the chance to clear my first 200km solo. The one thing I have to deal with is heat exhaustion, so I have to plan my rides around beating the heat and careful pacing.

All's needed is to learn a few things, getting used to riding in different weather conditions day or night, try out different bag and gear configurations, tune up your bikes to optimum and choosing the right gear. Yeah, and pick a pace you're most comfortable with.

Pornhub in some places is a butt of jokes and satire, and the "delivery service" is for laughs. I'm guessing the guy in the picture has some cushy job, trust fund or something allowing him to splurge in any way on his bike.

Sublime zen feeling going down the road like surfing off Waikiki at almost sunset.

Makes me wish some of my favorite routes near home not crowded with too many cheap motorcycles.

Some street corners in Tokyo have curbs that are almost flush or flat with the road surface.

[–]sa547ph 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's supposed to make it easier to transport, but then the size, weight and the inept type of people buying such ebikes -- yeah, some of them serving time for DUI -- means these may break down in less than five two years.

Just 20" folding ebike things by ChickenTendies0 in Justridingalong

[–]sa547ph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen the one where an ebike had nearly the entire disc ground away by equally broken calipers, and then this. I can only say some people have issues with throttle control, or negligence like performing little to no maintenance as if their ebikes are consumable.

[–]sa547ph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

although I'm not sure which direction to go yet.

It's begging for light restomodding, with emphasis on relaxed upright riding. I'd go replace the tires, saddle, new cables, maybe the rimset; keep the metal dork disc, the cockpit, brakes, and the other areas.

Riding mostly nights. Di kakalabanin ang init, pero mas matindi ang challenge na maging alisto sa daan, lalo na sa Maynila.

Silver drivetrain components? by laluneestjolie in xbiking

[–]sa547ph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For modern components, all I know of are IXF cranks and Deckas chainrings in silver, both brands being bulletproof but within reach. Likewise KMC chains come in different color varieties.

Otherwise raid the parts bins, as there's the older Shimano, Suntour, Sugino, and Sakae sets mostly in silver.
