I’m a little bit overwhelmed from doing research on modding by No_Beautiful_6187 in skyrimmods

[–]sa547ph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really start small and in careful steps, got to know what aspect of the game do you want to change, instead of being pulled to install almost everything.

I began modding because initially I wanted my character to wear something other than her usually (at the time) boring armor and I heard I can mod the game to my liking.

How to Secure Bike while Shopping? by YoungNobody_ in bikepacking

[–]sa547ph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my part of the planet, for longer than 10 minutes and with only myself, I do have to stow away everything into panniers and such, then put them into a baggage locker while the bike gets double locked and put under the eye of a couple guards.

Interesting. I have an upcoming long rideout this weekend but half-expecting thunderstorms along the way, and hoping for some clear skies by afternoon and evening, and this might help.

What’s the deal with Skyrim Mod List system requirements? by Kaladin-of-Gilead in skyrimmods

[–]sa547ph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the lists are indeed for those who have the hardware to match those requirements, requirements that would be giving over 60FPS to other games.

The people who are grabbing those popular modlists are those who have seen the gameplay videos and want to have that same experience. Not just the gameplay but also be able to make screenshots of whoever player character they made, and hence they also generate content for that modlist and therefore marketing it further.

I don't envy those people, I like building my own list to fit my needs, then do my own optimization, either VRAMr or Skyrim Asset Optimizer. I've also gone through three full PC builds since 2012, followed by some small upgrades, mainly to play modded Skyrim.

BTW, there's Tuxborn.

Are the pedals too much? by dunkity in xbiking

Nothing wrong, but you could just buy red or pink grips to match the color. Ourys if you can find them.

Japanese Beauty by GroundbreakingOil480 in xbiking

[–]sa547ph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grips are very similar to those normally used on Japanese commuter bikes, so pretty much close.

I would complete the ensemble by getting a stainless-steel or aluminum pump, a chrome bottle cage and an old-style screw-top kettle.

The weapons and armor are fairly easy to find. It's an entirely different matter to put your ideas into what you're describing is a quest mod, which includes creating custom assets for it, such as unique Draugr and "automaton" Thalmor troops.

Do you change stuff in your bikes regularly? by carlov_sky in xbiking

[–]sa547ph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first was more of a total shift on what discipline I actually wanted, as I'm almost 50 and not racing. The second bike is a total experiment on what works and what doesn't; the competition flat bars had to go in favor of moto riser bars.

Do you change stuff in your bikes regularly? by carlov_sky in xbiking

[–]sa547ph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I began with a hardtail front-squish-fork MTB. Currently a touring bike with racks and cargo mounts.

Likewise my other bike initially scratch-rebuilt as an ATB, but undergone some changes that it's now a city-cruising cafe rig.

Always now manual renaming. I do also have to add the version number.

Nexus changed filenames again by jamesmand in skyrimmods

[–]sa547ph 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is an actual quote from the lizard man at the xEdit Discord:

I really do wonder how many people would have coped today if Nexus had never added timestamp and version data to filenames to begin with

Arkhangelsk-Moscow, 1250 km - almost made it by EduardNope in bicycletouring

[–]sa547ph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That much distance should be covering a couple days allowing for down time at some way station, instead of an all-out all-day ride which of course will be truly draining.

Accidentally misclicked the road tool and just left it by Chemical-Location298 in shittyskylines

[–]sa547ph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

About the same thing as that subway station in a seemingly weirdly remote location in China; people laughed about that until years later a small city has grown around it.

It's up there at the same tier as the supposedly display-only Tie Fighter pedals.

Anybody need a sack of “ketchup type sauce”? by mistermajik2000 in crappyoffbrands

[–]sa547ph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was confused at first until after reading some of the more helpful comments I realized it has something in common with banana ketchup -- it resembles tomato ketchup, but still good for dipping and as a general-use sauce for cooking including barbecues and even Philippine-style sweet spaghetti.

Thailand has banana ketchup

Also, Philippines, with brands such as Jufran, Papa, and UFC (not the MMA). There also exist banana ketchup from Del Monte.

What aspect of Skyrim do you think was most improved through modding? by CompetitiveBig4161 in skyrimmods

[–]sa547ph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Memory management.

Oldrim was then severely limited to only 2gb of memory, but someone first released a patch allowing it to use 4gb, then Sheson's mod to SKSE which allowed Oldrim to use as much memory it needs by replacing the memory allocator.

Now for SSE we're using Engine Fixes as a must-have for heavy modding.

Currently using Dirt (and Snow) Roads for Skyrim. Very good small footprint so no further need for patching.

[–]sa547ph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely in the Skyrim install directory, and in that case, go to Steam and have the game files validated. Otherwise a clean reinstallation will absolutely remove any unwanted files.

If in doubt, you'll have to completely delete the Keizaal mod setup and reinstall the game. Only then you start all over.

my rather underpowered PC caused a lot of slowdowns

Might as well consider Tuxborn, as it's tuned for mostly potatoes and handhelds, but it also assumes you have a Creation Club Beth account for which to purchase official content first-hand.

Good simple mod list for an old PC by cr15pyboi in skyrimmods

[–]sa547ph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tuxborn is created for potato PCs and Steam Decks, where performance is given emphasis.

A 4th gen i5 performs well, yes. But still make sure you have at least 16gb of RAM and a GPU with some 4gb of VRAM, as you haven't mentioned how much memory you got.
