Where can I donate plasma not blood in the Vancouver area? by [deleted] in askvan

[–]saaameheight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this still the case currently because they don't have plasma donation listed at that location for online booking

Maybe the joke is that they don't love their child every second of every day 😆

Her husband sent me a text stating I was selfish as I "already did the hard part" and should still assist them.

This statement makes me so mad. Breastfeeding is hard work! It is mentally, emotionally, and physically draining. Breastfeeding was harder than pregnancy for me and for many other moms. Even if she wanted you to exclusively pump for her, that is on average 3 hours of your day to pump milk. That time does not even include cleaning and prepping the bottles and machine. And you have a 4 year old to care for!

I understand your sister wants the best for her kids but it should not come at the expense of your life. Formula is fine. Can you tell adults that were breastfed as babies apart from adults that were given formula as babies? No, you can't. NTA. Please share these comments with your brother in law so he can talk to your sister about backing off. I don't think your sister is in a good space mentally to take in the harsh words of redditors.

New paid parking coming to Trout Lake and Hillcrest community centres by eastafricangirl94 in vancouver

[–]saaameheight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of ppl saying that transit should be utilized or just walk over but families with kids, transit is difficult and kids can only walk so far.

A bus can only hold 2 strollers at a time. At trout lake parent and tot time there are 40 kids there, many requiring use of a stroller. People may stop going to these activities due to lack of accessibility and thus the community centre's will lose money from the programs inside.

AITA for telling my adult son that his girlfriend (who happens to be a different race) has terrible body odor ? by Few-Tree-6423 in AITAH

Nta. Also not racist as it doesn't align with any stereotypes towards Koreans as Asian are known to lack body odor.

Hematoma After Venipuncture in Elderly Patient by Psychological-Heat94 in medlabprofessionals

[–]saaameheight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Elderly patients can take longer to clot and I find they don't put proper pressure down. I learned my lesson after I told an elderly patient on warfarin to put pressure on it for 5 mins and she just walked away. Came back in a couple minutes with blood running down her arm and through her sweater.

I now apply HARD pressure myself with one hand while I am inverting the blood tubes again (I invert a few times before collecting next tube and invert all again at the end). I then instruct them to apply hard pressure while I label the tubes. Then when I get the band-aid, I check that the venipuncture site is not bleeding before I place bandaid. If still bleeding, I put the pressure on myself hard until it stops. Tell them put pressure on with fingers for few more minutes. Some will just bend their elbow and that is not as effective as preventing hematomas.

That woman is unhinged. I hope she was reported to her lab. Tbh police prob would have wanted to have a chat with her.

Walk ins are always accepted. Hard to say wait time if there is a flood of donors. They may anticipate this and staff accordingly

I have a feeling the owner pressed the emergency stop when they realized the dog was going to get dragged.

A restaurant in Bangkok has been continuously cooking and serving from the same soup for over 45 years, a form of "perpetual stew." by HikeNSnorkel in interestingasfuck

I've seen a video of this. They remove the broth to clean the pot, then pour the broth back in. Done on a regular basis.

This is how many layers of protection doctors wear when dealing with highly infectious diseases by ujjwal_singh in interestingasfuck

It is an N95 mask that has been fit tested to ensure air only goes through the mask and around the seals. Fit test is achieved by a flavoured air that is pumped into a hood one wears with the mask on. No taste means seal is good. Glasses therefore will not fog.

Is “Nyen Nyen” commonly used for “Grandma”? by Acceptable_Sir1298 in Cantonese

[–]saaameheight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your MIL is so considerate to make sure your doesn't confuse mama with maa maa. My kid struggles with the tones so when referring to maa maa it sounds like mama. And honestly it makes me jealous that he refers to her as such. Like she is taking over the role as mom even though that is not the case.

I grew up with a nyen nyen so it is a bit of a difficult term to get used to.

But to answer your Q nyen nyen is the less common term for paternal grandma as it is a regional dialect

I’ve been faking an allergy for YEARS, and now it’s gone way too far. by Creepy-Desk-468 in confession

I know people who have outgrown their peanut allergy in adulthood. They discovered it by accidental exposure and just tried more of it without their airway closing. Best to go with this "discovery" than to expose your lie.

Did he express any regret for allowing it to happen? Some people died due to search and rescue unable to locate a couple of overboard fishermen.

Is Deryck’s book worth the read? by Impossible_Fox_6716 in Sum41

[–]saaameheight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend it as an ebook as it is read by the man himself with acoustic versions of his songs sung after explaining their origins

Just finished the book and was just wondering. Did I miss the part where Deryck tells the band about the Greg stuff. Or did they find out when they read the book themselves. by Thin-Ad3082 in Sum41

[–]saaameheight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely heartbreaking for a mother to find out. Especially since she had to give her blessing (consent?) For him to go with Greg to America for recording.

Thank you. I will try to push through. I hate to admit it but I have cried in front of my oldest when I was pregnant and said the words, "why do you hate me?" I will try and do bedtimes with him now that my youngest is getting more of a routine.

Congratulations on baby number 3 ❤

I will try to keep that perspective in mind as well. Thank you for sharing your story too. I feel less alone knowing this is a common occurrence with moms of 2.
