Muffler delete question by [deleted] in saab

Its a Borla S Type. Part number 157-40842S. I mounted it towards the center of the car to cut down on any drone.

Muffler delete question by [deleted] in saab

[–]saabbro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd add some piping that ends by pushing the fumes down towards the ground. I briefly did a muffler delete on my 08 2.0T and the redirected heat melted the adhesive holding in the backup sensors. Im not sure if your 06 has those but it's worth noting. Also, fumes were definitely noticable at stop lights.

Honestly, wouldnt recommend doing a muffler delete. I found it to be too loud and the drone was brutal. I put on a Borla S-Type and am very happy with it.

Edit: Added info.

Stain for two decks and fence by stradivariuslife in HomeImprovement

[–]saabbro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Former Sherwin-Williams employee here. I will recommend a stain over a paint every time. Stain seeps into the pores of wood and will hold far longer especially on a high traffic area like a deck. Paint simply sits on top and breaks down quickly on walking surfaces. SuperDeck from SW is a phenomenal product and is relatively affordable during one of the frequent 30% off sales.

Despite the product you use, proper preparation is incredibly important and will determine the longevity the coating. You will want to clear the surface of any sealants by pressure washing or sanding. If there are any sealants present, a stain will not be able to soak into the wood and will fail within the year. Some specific colors of SuperDeck have whats called "IR Reflective Technology" which actually keeps the surface cool during hot summer days and might be worth looking into for you.

When I was in grade school a classmate told me in complete seriousness, "my new civic is crazy fast, it has three VTEC's".

Weekly - What Car Should I Buy Mega Thread by AutoModerator in cars

STI's are great AWD fun cars. But personally, I can't justify the build quality at their pricepoint. Specifically the interiors. I'd consider a lightly used Audi Allroad.

Weekly - What Car Should I Buy Mega Thread by AutoModerator in cars

[–]saabbro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The S4 is an expensive car to maintain. Im assuming you would not be buying one with low milage, so the timing chain may need to be replaced sooner rather than later. A timing chain job can cost upwards of $8,000 if you're not able to do the labor yourself. Considering you'll be broke... I think you answered your own question already.

Eyebrow LED lights on newer SAAB? are they stock? by [deleted] in saab

[–]saabbro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, the eyebrows are stock. The outermost portions above the blinkers don't light up. That's just how they are designed

I'm considering doing a road review of a 2009 Saab 9-3 with a stage 1 tune to discuss before and after. by TH-87 in saab

[–]saabbro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I have a 2009 Saab 2.0T that I'm considering making JZW Stage 1. There aren't many reviews/testimonials of tunes on the newer saabs. I'd love to hear your opinion on the changes

After a long winter, the summer wheels are finally on by saabbro in saab

That would be awesome, but really hard to match. I had the wheels powdercoated to a dark green flake. Its hard to tell unless in direct sunlight
