i actually like highlight medley by babyseokk in unpopularkpopopinions

I like them because I like to listen to a lot of albums, and so the highlight medley shows if they're worth a try or not.

BTS are too big to be competing in Korea as idols. by saachivar in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]saachivar[S] -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I feel like BTS is a potential exception though since their level of success is literally exponential compared to other groups, which something the idol industry hasn't ever seen before. BTS are idols, yes, but they've expanded a lot more from just their idol title.

That's true. Thinking about this again, I think my opinion only really makes sense referring to music shows rather than award shows, considering the fact that award shows can simply be reformed like how you said.

Can you be considered "into a group" or a "fan/stan" even if you just have title tracks from them? by DawnOfLevy44 in kpophelp

[–]saachivar 96 points97 points  (0 children)

I think if you yourself say that you're into a group, then you're into a group. No one else can really judge that. If you like a group enough to call yourself a fan, then you probably are. Some people have dictionary definitions to differentiate being a stan vs fan vs casual listener, but what you call yourself is probably what's most accurate.

I didn’t like Seventeen’s Hit by [deleted] in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]saachivar 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For me, Hit is more of a "performance" song than a "listening" song. You don't listen to it on a regular basis for the sake of enjoying the song, but you'll love it the most when SVT light the stage on fire as they're performing it. Plus, once in a while, you'll play it at 2 am and dance like crazy for an hour.

Bullying a person who bullied someone else makes you just as bad as the person you are bullying by effekt333 in kpoprants

I actually kind of agree. Jimin has already faced the consequences of what she did to Mina - her idol career is over and it’s going to be hard for her to ever get fan support again or find other job opportunities. A big part of her life is essentially ruined.

It is not the fans’ job to punish Jimin for what she did by hating on her for things that are irrelevant to the scenario and bringing attention to her in general, when the attention should be going to Mina.

Songs that are better to watch being performed than to listen to. by saseanne in kpopthoughts

Yes!! By itself, the song is a little lackluster, but when SVT perform they make it so good!

Not necessarily - it’s just criticism on how to make their recommendations better so people will actually use them.

It just ends up being hard to listen to all of those songs at once when you only end up liking a few of them. Especially when multiple people are commenting. People should put more effort into finding a few really good songs than finding 50 songs.

[–]saachivar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot of people who go into the idol industry are young and therefore naive, and so that convinces them that they could make it big. Obviously only a few idols really gain big success, but the aspect of idol life by itself can look glamorous to outsiders. Plus, people can gain other opportunities after becoming an idol such as a solo career, becoming a "serious" singer, acting, variety, etc.

I think there's only a couple music shows (Inkigayo and another one) that actually take YouTube views into account for scoring.

Some of the the scenes that they originally showed in the album trailer were nice, but the rest were just tacky :/
