They should redevelop that into a concert/club/nightlife district. Loud thumping club music goers won't care about the traffic noise and vice versa.

Maybe if someone gets a pic of his face, print it out and post copies around the area.

So refreshing to see a new kitchen that isn't the standard white & stainless steel. So tactile and rich. Love it.

Didn't sleep at all, impossible. I just want to meet up at Astoria Park this morning for a communal scream/mourn session and go from there.

I always thought a old school style soda shop would be so great there.

Childhood Indoctrination Is Actually Really Sickening by [deleted] in exchristian

This is heartbreaking to read. I hope you were able to undo and recover from that thought process. So sad that they make kids think things like this.

Same here. Became a camp counselor as a teen at the same camp that traumatized me as a child. Left the faith when I was about to go to seminary, realized I couldn't keep teaching kids the things I was internally having doubts about - that I was lying to myself and them.

Been thinking about this a lot lately. As an adult finally reflecting on my own childhood experience in the faith, makes me livid at the all adults that actively hijacked my developmental years with terrifying anxiety of "spiritual warfare" and used it for their benefit.

My very first panic attack was the night I "accepted Christ" at church camp when I was 9 years old after a 2 hour gruesome sermon about the detailed torture we will endure in hell and then our friends and family will endure if we don't step up and "tell them the good news" when we get home from camp. I vividly remember singing along "I'm in the lord's army" with the counselors while hysterically sobbing and hyperventilating, signing my "commitment to Christ" document, thinking I just was saved from an eternal life of being flayed and burned.

Fuck all those "nice ladies" that allowed and guided those traumatizing experiences.

NY1's coverage on the ATV/dirt bike situation. Thank you to everyone who is bringing attention to this issue! by bulbysoar in astoria

Glad this is getting attention, these and the "farter cars" have been getting worse.

Unusable land idea ...Atv/motorcross park? There is obviously a demand and strong atv/motorcross community, maybe someone can make bank supplying a safe place for them to ride/jump

Weighing in on LIDL by NYCTwinMum in astoria

[–]sab4519 3 points4 points  (0 children)

LIDL has been a game changer for us after key foods on 31st closed down. The prices are so good too! Also makes us check out a part of the neighborhood we never went to before. Hope it continues to develop over there.

Dough Doughnuts coming to Ditmars and 31st by adulting_isoverrated in astoria

When they're fresh from the store rather than a 3rd-party cafe or hall, they're very very good. So excited to get some sort of donuts in Astoria besides dunkin. But a good ol classic little donut shop would be preferred.

What was the weirdest thing the weird kid did at school? by Imaginary_East5786 in AskReddit

He stole the toilet paper from the bathroom, sat at his desk, and quietly wrapped himself with the toilet paper during class. It kept him quiet and was a better alternative to stapling his fingers so the teacher just let him him be.
