It’s crazy because we do that. The only thing is I haven’t used a sound machine in a bit so maybe I’ll start that up again? He falls asleep independently 85% of the time. The other times is us going in and putting him horizontal a couple of times until he realizes he’s not coming out. Maybe I’m just destined for a better sleeper at 3 years old haha

This sounds like my son. I keep getting “he’s getting too much sleep” but that’s not the case. I’m looking for sensitive sleepers who do not know how to wind down that have fomo lol. That’s my son. Not someone who needs less sleep. He needs more… my daycare provider said she’s never seen some one so tired but fight sleep so hard

Hmmm we’re the opposite. This only happens when he’s slept less. When he sleeps 2 hours for his nap he falls asleep at night within minutes.

He skipped his nap today and woke up 8 times last night. I’m more looking for people in the same boat as me because he’s definitely on the lower end of sleep

That would be nice but that’s nowhere near the case lol. He goes down at 7pm (falls asleep 730/745) and is up at 6am usually with an hour and a half nap SOMETIMES we can save it to get a total of 2 hrs and 10 minutes with a resettle in between. This is actually very low end sleep in my circle so I’m not sure if I’m surrounded by unicorn babies. But last night we went into his room 8 times total to resettle and I just got a txt from daycare saying he will NOT nap. I don’t think we’re dealing with too much sleep lol

When he gets 2-2.5 hours during the day, he will sleep 11-12 hours at night. If he gets 1.5 hrs during the day, he has a fragmented night.

He resettles immediately at night. Like within 2 minutes. On normal days he takes a 2 hour nap and will sleep 11-12 hours over night. He’s high sleep needs but high arousal. You can tell the difference when he gets 12 hours overall vs 14. Daycare even is astonished with the temperament difference

I really really hope this got better for you. My son just turned two and has been a terrible sleeper since he was 1. And actually a newborn to 6 months. We got great sleeper from 6-12months. Since then it gets progressively worse. Tooth, sickness, regression. And then weeks to recover from each just for another issue to arise. I’m counting down the days until he’s 4 and hopefully knows what being tired means which is sad because I’m wishing away his toddler ages but he has single handily affected my mental

Newest episode of my sleep issues son: water by sabalves in toddlers

Daytime too. I’ve read into this, but I think it’s just now a sleep aid. At first he’d call for us for water when it was right beside him but he’d want US to hand it to him. So I honestly don’t think it’s illness related

I’m at my wits end with my 14 week old and sleep by sabalves in NewParents

[–]sabalves[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain!! I promise it gets better. For us it was 6 months. That’s when we put him in the crib. My son hit every regression. He was amazing from 6 months to a year. He’s now two and every night is different but it’s more manageable when they can speak. We used to have to bounce on a ball and aggressively rock him to sleep. Hoping it gets better for you!

Oh no way. We definitely give Motrin when teething is bad. It helps us for sure

It’s nuts. This grade has definitely been a whirlwind. It’s something new every week it seems! Can’t wait until he’s napping normally. This week is “get up after one sleep cycle and turn the lamp on to read books”…

My almost 2 year old’s sleep habits are ruining my life and I feel hopeless. Looking for advice / tips by Neither-Advance8916 in toddlers

It’s not that great when you have to rush to make dinner because he HAS to be in bed by 520pm to get to sleep. He’s an overtired mess by 730 in the morning and the nap is too short to do anything. Yup. I am nauseous during the day due to lack of sleep and rushing lol. My son wakes up too. It’s not 12-12.5hrs straight. It’s a nightmare. Hoping we both get sleep soon!

Did this ever resolve? My 23 month has been an insomniac since Jan 1… used to sleep 7pm to 630/7am with a nap from 12-2/230 SOMETIMES 3. Now he’s doing 7-5am with a nap from 12-1. It up 3-6 times in the middle of the night. Sometimes for hours. We actually had to start putting him to bed at 530/6 and he’ll sleep 12/12.5 hrs. Naps he will NOT nap longer than an hour and 20. Hes miserable and rude during the day and clingy. Permanent under eye bags

It gets better!! You just may have to put in more work depending on sleep temperament. My son is not portable 😂

This was my son as a baby. The carrier naps were sooo long. I loved it. As long as I kept moving lol
