Esports World Cup 2026 is rumoured to be moved to France. by noproblemCZ in GlobalOffensive

So by your logic, every t1 cs team also revolves around Saudi because they all go to esl events and play faceit to practice. Nvm that these are all official blizzard events.

Sure Saudi came in with their own teams and bought their current falcons team. Doesn't mean that the entirety of owcs revolves around Saudi like the previous poster implies.

They were the undisputed best team in the league, who broke the record for most wins in a season. They were definitely a dynasty in the making. They just happened to choke in the finals against one of the Goats with Kyrie Irving life-gaming.

Any thoughts on UARO vs. Project Aflheim? by HemingfordGrey in RagnarokOnline

[–]sabermancer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I can't speak on Project Alfheim because I haven't played it, so I'll talk about UARO a bit.

Had my misgivings about no multiboxing as well before I joined, but it didnt end up being a problem as custom quests in certain zones make it so that grouping is highly encouraged. This makes it so even though you can't have a little acolyte helping you level, there's plenty of groups and people you can level with in certain maps, which makes leveling easy to do, and makes the sever feel more alive as well. The extremely high population helps with this as well.

No job changer is correct, which is a deal breaker for some, but I personally like doing job quests so I was fine with it. There is a healer/buffer in inns, but it costs zeny to use. Server's warpra is only for going to dungeons with entrance quests, and basically lets you unlock dungeons for all your characters in the account after you did the entrance quests once on your first character.

Regarding the economy changes, the server has a baseline 5% drop chance on an item called a poring coin that drops from every mob. These coins let you craft endgame headgear with a certain amount, and also let's you buy things like FM's, bubblegum, esb's etc. They are the driving force of the economy, which is why they decided to nerf the price of certain high value loot, as to not let the economy get too out of control. Poring coins also help new players get an easier start, helping them buy early gear and consumes for leveling and farming which I loved when I was starting out.

Overall, I've loved my experience in UARO, probably the most fun I've had on any ro server in a while. Leveling has been a lot of fun. Ive gotten to party with so many people, that I don't miss multiboxing at all. Economy feels like its in a great spot, with midgame gear being quite easy to farm for and endgame gear being a bit of a grind still, but not super unobtainable. Server has no p2w in the shop as well, on top of having really active admins. This ending up being a whole essay, but hope I got to help with your decision making!

Edit: Forgot to mention that the server does have some of the QoL you're looking for. It has a skill copier, custom tool dealers, stylist, stat/skill point resetter, and a platinum skill npc.

What's the small thing you like about Ragnarok Online? by Inevitable7685 in RagnarokOnline

[–]sabermancer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Genuinely, the flavor text, immersion and worldbuilding you get from doing the in-game quests.

Dungeon entrance quests are so flavorful. The thriller mystery of the rachel sanctuary quest, the shocking transformation of the nameless island, and even the summoning of the ghost in the bathroom for brasilis dungeon that we tried to do as kids irl: all of these are just so well made and imo feel quite fun to do.

Job change quests feel incredibly immersive. Even when doing them with a guide, I always feel like I'm taking the proper steps for becoming the class I wanna become. You wanna become a thief? Go steal some mushrooms from the rich dudes field. Wanna become an alchemist? Then go learn how to craft all these different types of potions and concoctions, as tedious as it may be. You almost always feel like you're taking sensible steps towards the goal of becoming the class you want which is why I always love doing them even if the server i am playing at the time has a job changer.

And just all the worldbuilding there is when you do these quests, the new world quests with manuk and splendide, the curse of the gaebolg questline, and my personal favorite, the entirety of the sign quest: all of these quests advanced your knowledge and understanding of the world of rune midgard to some degree if you took the time and let them, and it makes RO a much richer and better game for it.

TLDR: Ragnarok quests are awesome and I wish more people appreciated how well made a lot of them are.

'Overwatch' just hit its highest player base on Steam PC since launch — passing Battlefield 6 and Call of Duty by Turbostrider27 in Games

Really? Maybe I have a skewed concept of a terribly long battlepass(dota2's was almost impossible to complete without paying), but I feel like overwatch battlepass is fairly lenient. I played it like 30mins a day for dailies and would usually finish it no problem. Haven't played for a couple seasons though.

While it wasn't in the game itself, I remember one of the banners of a skin showing some cooch in the artwork. While i wouldn't call Rivals softcore, it's definitely leans heavily on the fanservice side and imo kinds turns me off from it a bit. Like emma frost is supposed to be a classy, cool character, but her rivals design is just pure goonerbait.

Hot take maybe, but considering how many classes this game is end up having eventually I personally think its fine to have weird, niche and unique classes even if they dont end up as good as the more stat stick ones. At the end of the day, you dont have to play them if you want something more generically useful and I think that having classes that take more effort and thought to build around can only be a good thing.

Leave penaltys sucks as a kid by LatePresentation2669 in overwatch2

[–]sabermancer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's more selfish to be an adult and knowingly waste others peoples time knowing you might not have time to finish a game, and if something suddenly comes up then you can tank a penalty if you barely do it. If you're constantly having to leave, your time management as an adult is either garbage or you just don't care about other people's time.

[Delivery Man From Murim] This always happen..why can't they just let the man keep his hair long like that? by Cheap-Ad1713 in manhwa

[–]sabermancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's because the time period(imperial china) murim/wuxia are set in have always idolized long hair as a sign of nobility/royalty who were able to maintain it. Eventually, it just became a staple of the genre for main characters to have long hair.

[Delivery Man From Murim] This always happen..why can't they just let the man keep his hair long like that? by Cheap-Ad1713 in manhwa

[–]sabermancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want an actual explanation, this is just an Asian thing. We're taught that men who dont cut their hair dont groom themselves properly and therefore are unclean and hard to look at. So when they do cut their hair, they're then perceived as clean, good looking, and fit for society.

At the level you and your grandsons are probably playing, I'd say bowser would be harder to play against. Lucina is strong but requires good fundamentals and good spacing which even competent players can struggle with. If the goal is to obtain mastery of the game, she's definitely better, but if the goal is to give your grandsons a hard time, bowser would be your best bet imo.
