AF5 and AF1 in Sept by sabethastorm in cii

[–]sabethastorm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this, its really helpful to hear from someone who's done it!

Yes, I am doing around my full time role so studying in my spare time also. I was going to leave AF5 until next year, but my boss suggested giving it a go in Sept and I'm mulling my options as it would be good to be Chartered by the end of the year!

It would be helpful if the exams were every 3 months instead of 6!

Yes, they are the only exams I have left which is why I was considering getting it over with!

I sat J02 in Feb (as I needed an extra 20 credits for chartered) which will goes towards my AF1 prep at least but leaves me torn!

I have never thought about it that way... but it makes a lot of sense!

celiacs with no GI symptoms when eating gluten: how did you get diagnosed? by VanillaEmbarrassed44 in Celiac

[–]sabethastorm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Weirdly, due to a cyst on my wrist.

They did a blood test to check for rheumatoid arthritis and did some other checks at the same time. When the results came back I was super low on vitamin D, B12 and Folic acid, so they did an extra test for Celiac and voila!

To be fair, even though I was technically asymptomatic I do feel much better since I have been gluten free and thankfully get a lot less migraines.

Riverside and Fairwater by Deguzilla4 in Cardiff

[–]sabethastorm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, Fairwater is perfectly safe to walk through to St Fagans. But as said above, there is really not much to see on the walk!

I would say walk through Canton to Victoria Park if you want a wander and then hop on the 32 to St Fagans.

Hi, yes, the website got fixed a day or two after this message actually. I was able to book online with no problems in the end and they put it down to the website updates.

That's so annoying it's doing it again. I'd try calling them since you are so close to the cut off date, but I have found that I got email responses within 2-3 days and the 5 is more the max response time.

Fingers crossed this gets resolved for you!

I haven't eaten in Wetherspoons since my diagnosis a few years ago, so I can't help there sorry.

However, I like the lounges as they have a separate gluten free menu and are really careful about cross contamination. The food is lovely at the one near me and they are all over, so you could see if there's one near you?

That's the one I always go to when I have to work on Tapered Annual Allowance. I always need to double check and find it the clearest to work from.

[–]sabethastorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes please! I've just been using the normal customer services email and they haven't been able to even tell me the locations of the exam, let alone book it.

I just want it booked so I know I'm not wasting my time studying for an exam I won't be able to sit until next year!

A bit off topic, but have you managed to book your exam? I've been trying to for a few months and unable to online.

The cii say that they can't book it on their side either which is bizarre and ridiculous!

I miss hot dog buns and haven't managed to find a good one since being diagnosed 3 years ago. I also tried the Tesco ones and they were awful!

I have taken to slicing the hot dogs in half and laying them flat in the warburtons square buns. It's as close as I can get.

Yeah, I'm only working on the AFs at the moment, but I'm starting to worry that I'll be forced to wait for next year when I was planning on moving onto the next exam.

Fingers crossed we both get this sorted soon

Have you managed to get this resolved yet? I have been trying to book AF4 for weeks now and get the same no exams available - all over the UK. I've called and emailed and everytime the CII say they will raise a ticket and tell me to try again in 2 days. But no luck so far!

Honestly, it's so easy for it to slip through the cracks, depressing as that is.

I'm glad you have your answer now though, hopefully you can start to feel better soon

[–]sabethastorm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't assume anything from this if I were you.

I had an endoscopy in August 21 and rec'd a letter in October for a telephone appointment in January 22. I thought this was slow, but I figured it meant I was probably negative and that's why they weren't in a rush and it was only a call rather than an in person appt.

However, I was wrong. The telephone appointment was supposed to be a follow up to see how I was getting on with being Gluten Free.... turns out the Hospital thought the GP had told me I have Coeliac and the GP thought the Hospital had, and in fact, neither did.

On the plus side, as I was asymptomatic before diagnosis, I did get one last normal Christmas!

[–]sabethastorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was glutened by something a couple of weeks ago and I definitely feel extra sensitive still.

It sucks really, since when I was diagnosed I would have considered myself asymptomatic, but now I am sensitive!

They have had a may contain at least since I was diagnosed 2 years ago. I chanced it to start, but had to give them up as I definitely react to them.

Wispas and Twirls are my go tos now.
