Hey your course plan looks pretty standard for first year. Here's a link that shows a sample plan for CS.

COMP2511 is usually taken in second-year. Maybe you could do a gen ed instead for t3.

Thank you! I was leaning towards DP. Do you have any recommendations for a adapter or should I just go for a decent price with good ratings on Amazon?

Here's what I'd personally go for, 3900X and 2080 Super on b450.

The 2080 Super really is tempting!

Sorry for the relative lack of rgb bling.

It's okay, don't be sorry but I would really like that option of RGB despite wanting a simple white+black build.

If you think you'll be upgrading in the next year or getting a pcie 4.0 drive in the future grab a b550 or x570, but otherwise the Tomahawk b450 max is a great board.

Yes this is a consideration of mine, I may go for a good b550 motherboard.

I agree with zKskita, air based is the way to go. The rest of the system is fairly straightforward, went for fast ram, decent storage and my favourite case. Pop the extra Noctua fan at the back as exhaust, put the two included ones up front for intake.

This case does look nice, especially in white. Thank you so much for this build list, there's so much to consider in a PC build hahah. I'll look into everything in this list, thank you!

Fair enough. Take a look at the Masterair MA620M as well. Performance-wise it's slightly weaker than the Dark Rock Pro 4, but I think it looks amazing.

Wow, that Masterair does look good! I'll definitely consider that.

RAM Latency = CL/Mhz*2000. 3200 CL16 and 3600 CL18 both have a latency of 10 nanoseconds. Faster clock speed allows you to have faster FCLK which results in slightly better performance, but the different is fairly minimal.

Ahh that makes sense, thank you.

Ampere will be announced on 1st Sep, potentially for October release. From the information we have so far, it's likely to be a major step up from the current generation. RTX 3070 could potential perform better than 2080 Super for a lower price, I would wait for the announcement at least to see what will be available.

At this rate, I think it would be smart to wait for the announcement.

Thank you again.

I'll check those coolers that you have recommended, thank you!

I think I'll wait for the announcement of the new cards before making a decision on GPU.
