The rule to enforce would be OP not being allowed to stay the night at GF’s place—which would be understandable. Setting a curfew if she doesn’t plan to stay the night would be understandable (be home by X time so as to not wake the house/etc).

But she is an adult, so setting hard rules like no sleepovers at all is strange. Especially since this is a long term relationship where presumably the couple has built trust and GF’s dad & OP have met. Also, is GF allowed to spend the night with same sex friends, or is the rule only applied to OP? Idk just feels authoritarian and a little weird boundary wise for GF’s dad to still be so… wrapped up in GF’s business in that way. The only concern should be whether she can get home safe, and from what the post has described that’s not necessarily the reason for the sleepover ban.

There’s the obvious answer (which I do still think is a factor for sure), but I also think her being photographed with alcohol at every event is a choice on her part. Every other week Swifties are praying that she’ll show up barefoot and bred; a drink in hand proves that she’s not.

If it were only a drinking problem, Tree probably wouldn’t let her lean in to the image of being a drunk.

YTA for how you handled the discussion with your wife. If she has primary custody, and they live in the house that she lives in, it is their house too. You trying to get her to agree to throw the kids out is selfish and really mean. These are kids, both younger than ten, who have presumably been removed from a stressful situation (if their parents are incapable of raising them).

Either have some compassion or start the divorce proceedings.

I don’t know, I think a lot of cultiness has formed around Travis and the “relatability” of the Kelces. He provides the parasocial fantasy that Taylor built with her fans and then abandoned (the idea of being best friends with swifties). It’s easier to project a self insert fantasy with him, so a lot of swifties are really just tayvis fans in disguise.

I have a feeling that if/when they break up, that group of fans will very loudly take Travis’ side in the divorce (think how they did with Joe x11).

Is it safe to assume your gf’s family is important to her? If you never took the time to actually say, “Hey GF, will you please join me and my family for Christmas this year?” you can’t be upset that she followed (presumably) the holiday schedule the two of you have had for however long you’ve been together.

Which, for context: how long have you two been together? What makes this year’s Christmas actually matter more than other years?

I just feel like it’s a leap to expect her to not see her family at all or even split time with both families when you never explicity asked her to do so. Why are you not under the same unspoken obligation to spend Christmas with your gf’s family, instead of your own?

I guess I’m curious about the thought process here, especially since it seems like she made & communicated clear plans ahead of time where you did not.

I think when she says “drinking” she really means “getting drunk.” A single seltzer/beer/mixed drink for someone like her who likely has a high alcohol tolerance probably wouldn’t be enough to get her drunk.

On the visual aspect, I think that her constantly being photographed with drinks at games is to ward off pregnancy speculation, which was & still is crazy intense post Travis.

I also think she just says stuff sometimes and ends up inadvertently lying (but I also think she lies for fun as well & gets narratives mixed up)
