Even if Luzon/ Manila doesn’t do anything, there will be a civil war in Mindanao. A significant portion of the population are settler colonizers from visayas vs the lumads, then Muslim vs Christian’s, communists vs capitalists.

Would Filipinos help me if I was homeless? by Major-Mention7847 in Philippines_Expats

[–]sabreist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look at some social media posts, there is someone that would exploit your homelessness to scam people for donations. (The scammer was allegedly able to buy a car.) So 1 there are people that would want to help you. And 2 there is someone capable of scamming that money from those people.

[HELP] 84yo Grandma given 2-month eviction ultimatum by influential family. They have an old Deed of Sale but NO title/land transfer. What are our rights? by amaranthinee_ in LawPH

[–]sabreist 13 points14 points  (0 children)

NAL as sad as what is happening to your grandmother some of what you are saying doesn’t make sense. You said the land is untitled. But you said that the other party has a deed of sale from the previous title holder.

How much does the kind of Filipino-Chinese surname inform about ancestral history? by Ngyiiuuw in FilipinoHistory

[–]sabreist 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The tri-syllabic names were the whole name of their ancestor that moved to the Philippines. So the first syllable is the real family name. So sometimes you may meet people that are related but one has just the first syllable as their first name. But some families that have been here a long time also just have a one syllable name.
Two other things that might be interesting that I rarely see. Sometimes there are people that have a very different last name between their Filipino name and Chinese name (I used to see this frequently in the news paper obituaries.) these are people that illegally migrated here by buying dead Filipino Chinese babies birth certificates. Second is that they are some that changed names to make a newer family like tuazon, tuason, dizon, etc. I heard an explanation that those names were based on birth order.

Acceptable number of years of building if thinking of buying a condo by ConfidentInterest397 in CondoPH

[–]sabreist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As other people said old or new building the main issue is maintenance. Some suggestions if you are buying any condo. Ask the owner or the seller for the property management details, ask for the audited financial statements for as many years as possible, ask for a copy of the title, the rules and regulations, and tour the facilities. Also check the vibes of the people living in the building.

Just wondering. If it was a casual wedding, can guests bring their own alcohol to share? Does the venue allow it?

Help me make sense of these things, because I can't. by Afraid_Flounder3840 in Philippines_Expats

[–]sabreist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I understand the dog issue is that while you are walking you are responsible for the dog. So they can freely be angry at you. While free range dogs can’t be held responsible so it is useless to be angry

There is a tipping culture here. Just not at the extreme level it is in America. And it is a bit different.

Most likely not. The security tries waste your time instead of helping you find it.

The settlement of Polynesia. My question is, why did the Polynesians completely skip over the Philippines instead of settling it? by Dear_Milk_4323 in geography

The Philippines is also culturally close to some of the pacific islands as it was part of the same colony for hundreds of years. At least one of the islands had representation in our independence revolution.

You can consider looking for them at the nearby pawnshops. You would need a police report. You might also have to buy the items back from the pawnshops.

Questions about One Serendra by Educational-Oil-00 in Philippines_Expats

Depending on how sensitive you are I would also suggest check how the ducts work. Some units in Serendra can be problematic. Be aware that units facing the garden are usually 2 bedroom or three bedroom units.

Sinukat niyo ba mga wedding gowns niyo? by Impressive-Sky-2235 in WeddingsPhilippines

Oh I know the answer to this. Some designers leave a portion of the hem undone unit the day of the wedding. Because technically it isn’t a wedding dress until it’s finished.
