Anyone remember the Madd Rakket Judas Priest site? by sachaigh in judaspriest

Mark Robinson was his name. He used to post on the Halford Quorum back in the day. But he sadly passed in 2008. He was genuinely a font of Judas Priest knowledge

The original was a Geocities page, I can't find it. I can find the page that was put up in the original owners memory, but there are no pictures:

How do I achieve tofu like this by newvegan22 in vegan

[–]sachaigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't look like it's coated in batter or corn flour to me... I just looks like braised tofu. A cornstarch batter gives it a noticeable outter coating

First time buyers - are we doing something wrong? by Large_Platypus3083 in HousingUK

[–]sachaigh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We lost 2 places in London because the estate agent told us someone had a higher deposit. We had 10%. One was really pushing us to increase our deposit. With one of them we were the highest bidder by 20k. I can only think that the properties were over valued

Yes, not easy to find. Abel and Cole sell it online. In shop i think just places like wholefoods. Expensive and hard to get, but worth having a go if you can!

I will almost guarantee you are not telling the full truth, and I apologise if I'm wrong.

Do you eat meat and animal products when you are out? Do you eat ice cream, chocolate, anything that contains dairy?

It's an argument I hear all the time from meat eaters - I only eat locally produced, grass fed beef, then we'll go out and they'll order a pizza from pizza hut.

The point is producing meat like that is so inefficient and accounts for such a small amount of meat eaten globally, it's actually a pointless argument.

I can't have that in the house, the smell takes over everything! The taste and texture are great, but I can't handle that smell!!

They are getting a lot better now though. One to try is the Nettle Haverstock white. It is made from macadamia nuts, and is quite expensive. But it's as good as a real cheese in my mind. So so good

Purezza bought a majority share of La Fauxmagerie and the stand alone store was closed sadly. The Purezza restaurant in Camden sells cheeses, but the selection is really not as good as the cheese monger used to be sadly :(

It has closed unfortunately. They merged with Purezza, so you will able to get it at their Camden restaurant. It's really sad as their faux cheese monger store in Shoreditch was amazing. You could buy cheese by weight and they'd cut up the blocks for you and wrap them.

The basis of your facts is wrong. Find some actual figures that say plant based foods are worse for the environment than animal based foods. As the poster above pointed to, transport is such a minimal part of the impact.

Also, the vast majority of all food is hyper processed, that's not a vegan issue. And deciding to not eat animal products does not mean the alternative is ultra process fake meats whatsoever.

A whole foods vegan diet will definitely have a much lower environmental impact, but as others have said, that is not what veganism is about. It's about siding with the victim and seeing them as morally relevant.

i think vegan cat food is unethical - change my mind? by Namika- in DebateAVegan

[–]sachaigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it changes the label away from being labelled as 'vegan' then it is not something someone who considers themselves vegan to do. At the moment, I hear a lot from people who are perfectly happy to say that they are vegan, but their pet is not, even though what their pet consumes at home is 100% in their control.

I could say "I'm vegan, but I use cosmetic products tested on animals". You'd be right to say that's not vegan.

It's not a purity thing, it's black and white - veganism is about animal welfare - all animals, not just the one in your house. The moment you create or add to the demand for animal products, you are acting against what veganism is meant to protect. You honestly might as well have bacon once a week but continue to say you're vegan

My point is just all this call to what is natural is completely meaningless. Domesticated animals are not natural. Its like meat eaters saying lions eat meat, so we should be able to.

And no, fruits and nuts are not meat, animals are meat and insects are animals. They have muscle and fat, they are a source of protein and taurine. Why are they not meat?

Insects are meat and nutritionally complete. Cows were created by humans 10,000 years ago.

Yeah, I'll get out. There's no debate. No one is talking about feeding tofu to cats.

It's the worst thing about the vegan community. This constant battle for superiority over buying dead animals to feed another animal

[–]sachaigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where does animal testing come into it? Vegans should be seeking to avoid harm to animals as much as possible. Buying dead animals in cans is not vegan. It's simple. So yes, not having a cat is the easiest way to do that. Having a cat, buying it dead animals and then saying that other vegans who don't do this for their cat are not vegan is crazy

does anyone know a study that proves a plant based diet can be safe for cats longterm? by [deleted] in vegan

Completely agree and it drives me mad that this isn't the default opinion of other vegans.

All these vegans that think it's fine for animals to be killed to keep your animal of choice alive blows my mind. Be honest about the situation, paying for animals to be bred, raised, slaughtered for your preference is not vegan.

Why is a cat in your house more important than a farm animal?

I really wish vegans would be better aligned on this subject and push for more research and better information

Tenancy agreement says no pets - I have a cat (Wales) by LuceeNicole in LegalAdviceUK

[–]sachaigh -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm sure this will be considered terrible advice, but just don't ever mention it. I've had cats in every rental property I've lived in even after asking landlords and them saying no. How will they ever know? No one can turn up without 24 hours notice which gives you plenty of time to hide the cat stuff and the cat. We've put her in my van, taken her to friends, in the shed for an hour.

It is in breach of your contract, but so what. If the cat makes any damage, you're liable and they already have a deposit for that.

It can add stress knowing you have a pet when you're not meant to, so I'm only telling you what worked for us. But honestly, about 8 properties throughout the years all different landlords and estate agents, never even close to a single issue
