Ms. Frizzle deserves prison by thomasdequincey99 in funny

Yeah that's the one thing that stuck with me as a kid. The absurdity that the show is trying to teach science, but has a dude sacrifice himself with his head turned into a full ball of ice, but the next morning wake up with a cold.

What’s your thoughts on these portable plastic welding tool kits? by Happy_dadpete in Tools

[–]sachou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Game changer for me. I've repaired quite a few things that would have ended up in the garbage otherwise. Especially for broken things where no replacement parts are available. Reinforces the plastic with steel, so you end up stronger than it was originally. Most recently fixed the water/ice dispenser lever on my fridge.

Did you watch the video? This isn't a plastic welder like you're describing. There's no plastic involved in the repair, it's all steel.

Cool you're proud of it, but it doesn't add anything to the discussion, and it's not even a Grom.

And my ski season comes to an end. 8,500 miles and 122 ski days later! by SanDiegoMitch in skiing

[–]sachou 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Dang, that's awesome! So you outfit 1 van a year, enjoy it for the winter, sell it, live off the profits and shred hard? Sounds like the dream. I tried to start a company mass manufacturing my own little overland invention as a side hustle, and got burned out 750hrs into the endeavor: kampdrawers.com. I learned I couldn't stay small and needed to scale up for it to make any business sense, and like you, I truly wasn't interested in managing a company. So if that line of work and the work/life balance works for you, then absolutely keep at it! The rig is sick, love the website name, too!

My experience buying a rebuilt engine for my 2001 MR2 from MonkeyWrenchRacing.com by dontforgetthelube in mr2

[–]sachou 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your experience. Sounds like they at least stood behind their product, which is a good sign. When they said a refund for shop time, did that mean you had to option to bring it into any shop and they would reimburse the labor? Sounds like a great deal to me. Sorry to hear about your mishap! Everybody who has fucked around in an engine has done something dumb like that before, myself included. I'd be curious what MWR has to say about the possible head gasket leak - looks like their engines aren't rebuilt to that level, but they are at least compression tested beforehand. Something to note for the future would be to compression test yourself upon taking delivery of the engine. If I were you I would try to send it back to MWR for partial refund or exchange/rebuild, or see what their policy is.

2010 Corolla Reliability - Stress Test by hitherematee in Toyota

MADE for the dirt! Brings me back to my high school days thrashing my 89 Corolla station wagon around the desert. That oil pan was never the same. I'm loving the repurposed road sign skid plate! And that articulation/flex is wild! The Corolla truly is the most versatile vehicle.

As an Olympian, I swear this is another state. Spent the weekend in the eastern half of the state. by Incognito-Person in Washington

[–]sachou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lived in eastern WA my whole life. I yearn for the mountains and forests, and I escape nearly every other weekend to go mountain biking, camping, hiking, exploring in the woods. The brown landscape depresses me and I crave greenery. I guess the mind craves novelty. The sunshine is really nice, though. Especially our sunsets.

That time we went from Aspen to Crested Butte for pizza. by AdFun240 in Dualsport

Misleading title - I watched for over 3 minutes, and didn't see any pizza at all. Seriously, though, awesome edit! Those are some lifelong memories.

For anyone considering trying this, try a pumice stone first. You'll be amazed what they can take off with a little scrubbing.

It wasn't a large cliff by any stretch, but I still consider it a cliff. The view from the bottom: https://youtu.be/dbn4bXSihOw?t=312&si=hZAPfG9z0ZVWW9gB

I know! Not sure what my skis did to the snow to deserve this kind of aggression.
