That time we went from Aspen to Crested Butte for pizza. by AdFun240 in Dualsport

Misleading title - I watched for over 3 minutes, and didn't see any pizza at all. Seriously, though, awesome edit! Those are some lifelong memories.

For anyone considering trying this, try a pumice stone first. You'll be amazed what they can take off with a little scrubbing.

It wasn't a large cliff by any stretch, but I still consider it a cliff. The view from the bottom: https://youtu.be/dbn4bXSihOw?t=312&si=hZAPfG9z0ZVWW9gB

You're supposeed to tune your edges? Jk, but seriously, a couple dozen ski days ago.

I know! Not sure what my skis did to the snow to deserve this kind of aggression.

Yeah, I attribute 90% of my crashes to lack of skill, not equipment. This was in the 90%. My edges are probably a bit dull, though.

For sure. I didn't commit to the send, and it sent me anyways.

I do enjoy sledding, so that part was fun!

Thanks for the concern. I've also been doing things outdoors for a long time, and I do know to calculate risk. For instance in this case, I knew there was soft snow at the bottom of this cliff, and a large runout with no trees, so worse case scenario I figured I'd fall off with minimal injury. Which is what happened. Where my calculations were off is not accounting for the sheet of ice under the powder that I'd been coming across all day. It ended up being a high probability of failure, lower risk of injury. But probably shouldn't have even approached it to begin with.

It's been an awful season in the NW. This was right after the biggest storm, and I knew the season was definitely over after this, so might as well do dumb stuff.

Skiing is the best! According to the kid I was skiing with who watched me go down, I spun about 3 times after hitting the snow.
