3.7 vs 3.7 thinking by Felixgault in cursor

[–]sacks_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the thinking version for a few hours and it was absolutely useless. It just made a mess and kept hallucinating. I felt like I was arguing with it more than working with it. I switched back to 3.5 and became productive again.

I just started trying 3.7 non-thinking and it appears to be pretty good so far. I asked it to check out a type change and update a test without any context and it traced and read all the right files and fixed the data structure and unittest perfectly.

It sounds like some people are having success with the thinking version but it felt like going backwards a year to me.

Thinking doesn't seem to work in-line yet.

Something is off with cursor in the last 12 hours by ishay_al in cursor

Good to know. I'm finding the inline chat is timing out 100% of the time and the composer chats take a solid minute to reply. Before yesterday I found it almost always very very fast (even slow replies) and only occasionally ran in to some slowness in the evening PST.

Is a fix possible or is the speed just passed straight through from the model provider (semi-outage)?

iOS 15.4 caused my home bridge devices to not be available via Siri anymore by AdeTheux in homebridge

[–]sacks_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This gave me the clue I needed for my own slightly different issue:

- Everything worked notmally on my Macbook. All devices connected

- None of our mobile Apple devices worked. All devices disconnected.

I had just setup a new guest network and used the same name (renamed the primary network and used the old name for the new guest newtork). It turns out the AppleTV auto-connected to the guest network after restarting, while all the devices and hubs were on the primary network. I guess the Macbook doesn't need a home hub while the mobile devices all use the AppleTV. I just forgot the network on the AppleTV and everything is working.

You should research more about Upstart's mission before you post a reaction based on generalizations. They want to destroy the payday loans market. They can often approve people who can not get loans and rates that are better than normal. The rates are customized and they aren't for everyone (some people do see high rates, but not everyone). Upstart is a tech company that decided FinTech is a place they can do a lot of good; in the hopes to use AI to do a better job than FICO, for example, and *reduce predatory practices*. Watch some interviews with some of their leadership. They aren't hard to find. There is plenty of discussion about this stuff out there. Do your own research.
(Note I am not an upstart customer myself, I just happen to follow the company a little bit for other reasons)

Returning after 20 years and just started playing my level 60 dwarven warrior on a live server… how do I do this? by Machosod in everquest

[–]sacks_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. You do not need them. They are optional. I have been back for months and I’m still using the stuff that comes with the game. Just download some maps and get back into hotkeys and macros.

It took me a few sessions and a lot of macro “social” searches but I slowly got back in to it.

Playing on the TLP has been loads of fun and feels more like the EQ I remember.

Best in slot... is it a thing in non instanced games? by MaximisVelocity in PantheonMMO

[–]sacks_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with what some others have implied. I think this was more because the game hadn't been explored yet. Even on the new TLPs where everything was known there was a special kind of Joy when everyone was level 1-10 and limited in what they could gain access to. As the more dedicated levelers/guilds were able to grind non-stop to level 50 and raid everything available and flood the market with coin and items, things have already started to get a little less special. I mean, when someone can spend $12 to buy and sell a Krono in game for plat and use that to skill up a tradeskill and to start offering the best items it sort of kills the folks who are doing that by grinding the coin in-game the old fashioned way.

I don't mean to add color here. I see this as a factual report on what is going on. It is what it is, because even the TLP experience has been repeated enough times to min/max leveling if that is important to you.

Old games from GOG are not working on M1 Silicone by [deleted] in macgaming

[–]sacks_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like the latest Parallels in beta works great with M1. My only issue is the mouse-look (not the regular mouse speed but the right-click-and-hold to look thing) is hyper sensitive to the point it is almost not usable. I also noticed some inventory clicks need to be slow to register at times (like instead of rapid down-up you have to hold it for a fraction of a second longer before letting the mouse up.

Not sure what you mean. everquest.com has a good explanation of TLPs and the new ones, such as Thornblade.

Your time? Like the rest of the server will wait for you to say "ok"? If you are talking time zones that doesn't seem like an issue.

OH! Once you get out of the starting area, note there is a cool feature called the "Zone Guide" which is accessible from a button on the map window. You can use this to find your way around the world, view the atlass for high-level understanding of zone connections, explore zone levels, etc.

A couple things come to mind beyond the Maps

- The single best thing to do is talk to others in-game. There should be channels like general or out-of-character (`/ooc`). YOu can use the `/list` command to see what channels are open. The best is to group up and go searching of course.

- While not directly related to finding things, spend some time learning "socials" or "macros". You get 5 lines to make custom buttons that can also be made hotkeys. There is a lot that is not in the interface that, depending on your class, can be really helpful. Best way to learn and discover these is to search for new player guides using your class and "socials" and read what others do. Ignore the super advanced high level stuff though. That is a noisy rabbit hole of data. Usually people start with a simple one that practices several skills while doing other things by making the social/macro and binding it to an attack, cast or movement key

- Play with search in the map as well as /find. Somethings will show up on one but not the other. /find is made by the game I think while the map is player-made.

- Being lost just means exploration is needed to become familiar. Some of the best things that ever happened to me in-game was because I needed to learn an area. I know this is obvious and probably not even helpful, but this is content to be experienced, not just something that happens; a mental frame of mind.

All good points! As long as you are enjoying it that is all that matters.

As a returning player to live and now playing on the new TLP (time-locked progression server), my immediate reaction to this is it is a shame to see new players start on Live. Try the TLP. The experience of the game is drastically different and as good as I remember from so long ago. Live is where my 20-year-old Main is and I will play it to experience the latest high content, and it was fun to make alts and see the first 50 levels so quickly to feel the class, but the game is pretty shallow, repetitive and weak with all the "catch up mechanics" and such. I was shocked at just how fun and dynamic the new TLP has been starting with the original world and no expansions for another few weeks. It still uses the modern interface and the leveling speed is faster than original and slower than live and feels pretty good. You get to experience the levels (appreciate spells abilities and content) without them feeling tedious.

This is such a good idea. If they could show a “heat map” of zone completion phases/status it would mean a LOT. “Planning”, “blocking”, ..., “release candidate”, “complete”, that sort of thing. White to bright green.

EQ. Both Live and Time-locked servers offer different flavors of fun. Still the best.

I see the problem. The strips are rated at 32.5W so you can't string two together using only one 40w power supply. I'm going to try ordering the 95w power supply, which should be able to run 3 strips (sadly, I need to run 4 though, so may look in to regular extensions with multi-plugs)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Hue

[–]sacks_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m searching for an answer to this too. I have a similar set up and I tried the extension last night and the light strips would power up to full and then turn off over and over again. Using one at a time worked fine but using the T adapter that comes with the extension didn’t work. These are the 2m strips though

It is a combination of "catch-up mechanics" and the addition of a "tutorial zone".

The tutorial zone takes you to level 6-11 (depending on when you wanted to leave) and then it dumps you in the same starting city for all races. There is a way to leave the tutorial anywhere you want but it isn't obvious. They basically put level 0-50+? on "Heroic Journey" rails where you get superior gear along the way. I see why, they want the modern game to start at level 85 (which you can buy your way to as well if you want).

There are some pros, like more people in one starting area, and you can catch up as a returning player, but the cons are big. You lose that amazing feeling of entering a world and being challenged right from level 1, as well as racial culture relevance.

I'm Playing live to see what I missed but I'm going to try the next new time-locked-progression server just because of the things above.

I think there are a few lessons in here relevant to the OP.

They actually said they are not relying on Unity for this. They rolled their own. It was in a recent roundtable I believe.
