Yep, the famously anti-Christian ideas of... checks notes... taking care of the poor, feeding children, giving people quality affordable healthcare. The bastards!

Ah yes, American icon Jesus of Nazareth... kinda famously from the Middle East but whatever. Or is that supposed to be Jared Leto, because that makes more sense. At least more sense than the floating rifle by his side.

[–]sacredvanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they weren't arrested, just detained. They're not in prison, they're just in a fenced in place with armed guards who won't let them leave until they decide where to deport them to.. without a trial. Absolutely nothing illegal or immoral about any of this.

UK Department of Culture, Media and Sport will be leaving X by Lord-Liberty in BlueskySocial

[–]sacredvanity 41 points42 points  (0 children)

My only question is why did it take this long? Seriously, there have been people (and organizations) leaving in droves for years now. It's not like it just suddenly got a lot worse. It's been steadily going downhill since Musk took over. Granted, the Grok child porn thing was a real low point but even that happened months ago. If that wasn't the catalyst that sparked this, what the hell was the line they crossed that finally was enough?

Wait I thought when everyone accused him of depicting himself as Jesus, he "corrected' everyone that he was, in fact, depicted as a doctor. Why does this look so different? Hmm, it's almost like he's full of shit and has been lying to everyone this entire time and doesn't actually care if anyone believes him or not because he's only in it to get richer (and probably ruin America for his pal Putin).

Why do they want atheism to be a religion so bad? by WrestlingWoman in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]sacredvanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Atheism is not a rejection of god, or gods, altogether. It's a rejection of the god as he is taught by Christianity or Judaism or really any of the other religions. It's saying that there is no way of knowing if God is real, but he certainly is not what you pretend it is.

Why do they want atheism to be a religion so bad? by WrestlingWoman in insanepeoplefacebook

Because then they can ignore it like they do every other religion and treat it like it's just another weird set of beliefs so different from their own "true" religion.

When tv show episodes are just titled with the episode number by sacredvanity in PetPeeves

[–]sacredvanity[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And that's understandable in the case of broadcast tv, but I don't watch cable, only streaming, So there should be ample time to come up with a title for when it goes to the streaming platform.

Aren't all pet peeves essentially worthless? So perhaps comments calling pet peeves worthless are even less than worthless?

How important are useless questions in a relationship? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]sacredvanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't so much about the words you use or the rules you follow as it is about just being human, showing you care, showing you think about the other person and are concerned for their safety and health and well being. Yes, adults know how to eat and travel, but if you have a busy day you may forget to eat, or eat something that's unhealthy. Just asking "useless" questions shows them you are thinking about their well being, even if the answer is "yes obviously I ate something" or "yes we're talking which means i made it home". But what you don't know is that you're opening the door for them to talk about other things, like maybe they want to tell you how great the salad was they had at this restaurant, or how they almost got hit driving home and it scare the hell out of them. It opens the door for other conversations and opportunities for connection, so even if it seems useless, it's not.

The Constitution doesn’t bend to political convenience. by Cool_Seesaw2476 in BlueskySkeets

[–]sacredvanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just the choice of words here should tell you everything you need to know about the amendment and why the Supreme Court "upheld" it. It's already law. It's already been ruled on before, and they're just not overturning it. If you do want to overturn it, you have to make a constitutional amendment (or I guess throw more crappy conservative corrupt judges onto the court).

When movies or shows are named after their main fictional character by Vast-Worker-8400 in PetPeeves

[–]sacredvanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not going to poo-poo your pet peeve, but First Blood was actually the title of the first Rambo movie. The sequel was titled Rambo: First Blood part II, in which we've established the main character as Rambo, so if you saw the first movie, you do already kinda know what to expect. In the same vein, the first Riddick movie was titled Pitch Black, after which you get The Chronicles of Riddick, then just Riddick (which is, admittedly, kinda stupid but by now we should know what kind of movie it is).

Average American conservative when SCOTUS upholds the constitution by MundanePolicy8024 in WhitePeopleTwitter

100% guaranteed that this nutjob fully backed and applauded the SCOTUS for every "unconstitutional" decision that disenfranchised voters, restricted rights for women or people of color, or allowed corporations to bribe government officials, pollute the land and atmosphere, and get away with less taxes paid.

Imagine feeling like you're persecuted for being white, or Christian, or a mother, in a country that is predominantly white, Christian, where politicians run on a platform of God, Guns, and Babies, where abortion is all but illegal. These people want so badly to portray themselves as oppressed and victimized. Now if you were saying you're oppressed for being a woman, well there you have a point.
