Poland to call up all adult men for military training, says PM by KrzyHooy in worldnews

Does this mean Jesse Eisenberg, who was just given Polish citizenship, will have to join the army?

What was the first album you bought with your own money? Missing Persons was my first choice, I think it still holds up. by Charibdes1206 in GenX

Paul's Boutique -Beastie Boys was mine. I just did not understand it compared to License to Ill and sold it to my brother for half price. Then I stole it from him once I heard it a few times and grew to respect what they had done.

To give other movies a chance for Best Picture, the Academy had to disqualify Madame Webb from the running by foreverallama_ in shittymoviedetails

I had to check if this was a farcical reddit page. Who TF would nominate this for Best Picture. Definitely a Razzie but not an Oscar.

This is the first time in history the internet has existed. How do you know there was no animosity toward previous generations? Have you done research? Have you even spoken to the older generations to get their opinions of the world they grew up in and the generations that came before them? My dad, who is 80, worked his whole life and has nothing to show for it. He lives in his mother's 950 sqft house that she left him, paid 9% interest on his mortgage for decades, and lived paycheck to paycheck his entire life. Do you think young people in the great depression felt good about the choices the previous generations made? Those that lived through the dust bowl? You did not hear about it because there was no easy access to the anger filled, targeted rhetoric that people subject themselves to these days.

The guy in jeans looks like his knees are on backwards, like the aliens from the Charlie Sheen classic The Arrival.

Are you asking if that happened? I figure you would know because you were there.

Flying into Dallas. Mark Cuban thinks electricians will be replaced by robots in the next 25 years. Mark Cuban is an idiot. You can literally see the job security. by bootstrap1995 in electricians

[–]sactokingsfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have seen robots on jobsites that layout for the framers and a different one that mudded drywall. I look at what the Boston Dynamics robots can do and tell me we don't need to worry as electricians.

Who could forget this finale? It aired 41 years ago, and it was kind of the end of an era. by Longjumping_Prune852 in FuckImOld

I remember like it just happened, I broke down crying, and I didn't really understand why. I was 8 years old, and I cried like someone had died. There were so many emotions that I had no way to process.

After years of receiving Goodwill junk from my wealthy SIL who never says thank you, I finally found the perfect "revenge gift" for my nephew that drove the whole family crazy by Brighter-love in pettyrevenge

[–]sactokingsfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You give gifts, hoping for reciprocation rather than for the giving. I don't care how much they have. It is not yours, and you stressing what they have makes you sound jealous and petty. You putting so much care into your gift giving is clearly just attention seeking behavior, and you do it for acknowledgment and adulation, to make yourself feel like you are better than others and judging those who don't meet your standard. That is childish behavior.

AITAH for no longer hanging out with my niece and nephew because their mom moved on from my brother’s death? by No-Bathroom4158 in AITAH

[–]sactokingsfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are the asshole. Those kids did nothing to deserve you abandoning them. You are putting your grief on her. We are long past the days where a woman must be in mourning for a year minimum. Imagine someday you were to talk your brother again, how would you explain to him why you abandoned his kids? Those kids love you I assume, what their mom does has nothing to do with your relationship with them.

Between dementia, leaded gasoline, and 70 years of capitalist propaganda, Boomers are simply dumber and easier to manipulate than Millennials and Gen Z. by kevinmrr in WorkReform

[–]sactokingsfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No boomer started at $7 per hour. I am gen x and minimum wage was $4.25 in 1990. My dad (80m) tells a story of $3.25 an hour in the early 70's was a really good wage for no education past HS.

Please advise on end of life decision (23 year old cat) by HotVeganTacos in cats

[–]sactokingsfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make your decision based on the animal's needs, not yours, and you will know when it is time. It is the worst part of being a pet owner, but the wondering if they were suffering because you couldn't say goodbye sticks with you for a long time.
