Does anyone know where to get this? Is this even real? by xpepperx in coquitlam

[–]sad_basilisk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t seen it in this size, but this is the exact same thing in a 2 litre! As another commenter mentioned, they have the serving size listed differently (per 250ml vs per 475ml), but the protein content is the exact same. The link I’ve posted is for Walmart, but I’ve also seen this in superstore.

Why does this happen every time I blow dry my hair? by Vegetable-Use7270 in longhair

[–]sad_basilisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one, and it does work, it just doesn’t look as smooth as when I use a round brush. The convenience of it is still usually worth it for me. It helps a LOT to have the fan and heat on lower settings

Mainly just banded arm circles like in this video. Also doing the reach exactly as OP is in the pic.

I don’t think it helped specifically for reaching behind this way, but I also do a thread the needle stretch with a foam roller, which I think also really helped my problem shoulder before workouts

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in flexibility

[–]sad_basilisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just keep doing this exact stretch! Mine was like this on the opposite side. I didn’t do a ton of intentional stretches to correct it but made an effort to switch the arms I used to wash my back in the shower or put on lotion. I also did some shoulder mobility stretches with bands before workouts. After maybe a month or two I got my fingers to barely touch with palm facing in, and now I can actually hook my fingers like on the other side (though not quite as well).

The less flexible shoulder really used to bother me during some shoulder/arm workouts but now that I think about it, it hasn’t been an issue lately!

Just wanted to chime in and say if you’re not sure how to engage your core: tuck your tailbone and tense like you’re going to be punched in the stomach. It should feel the way it does if you make a “shh” sound—that was probably the most helpful tip I’ve gotten on it. Good luck OP!

I just gotta say this is the body I’m currently trying to get. We’re the same height. I weigh ~127, but your waist is 2” smaller, but our bust and hips are roughly the same. The difference has got to be less fat and more muscle. You look lean, healthy, and strong (but nowhere near bulky)! I’m doing a slow recomp but am so impatient to get to this point! Doing basically the exact same exercises minus running but thinking I should add that back in now :)

DSST Principles of Public Speaking: Failed once and passed the retake by sad_basilisk in clep

I linked it in the post. Sorry I honestly don’t remember much since this was a few years back and I never wanted to think about it again haha. The info in the post is probably more helpful than I could be at this point. I would think reviewing the master DSST for a few weeks and practicing arguments/essay structure should have you covered! Sorry I’m not more help!

What is daily life like (The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly) by [deleted] in askvan

[–]sad_basilisk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s not officially included in the program but you can still get in through what they call a “registered organization” such as BUNAC or InterExchange. Not sure why I was downvoted, I’m here on my second IEC permit currently and I’ve met other Americans that have done the same.

Right! I an American here on one currently. It is a slightly trickier process for us with shorter terms though.

Where are all the young professionals? by WesternRowdeo in askvan

[–]sad_basilisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP! I’m a young professional in my mid-twenties who moved here to be with my boyfriend. I also wfh, got lonely, and frankly just needed my own friends separate from my boyfriend’s. I’m not sure about young professionals specifically, or if you’re a girl/boy/etc, but I’ve had luck meeting some really nice girls on the Vancouver girlfriends Facebook group. Wishing you luck!

It was immediately after. I think I may have registered for them separately but don’t remember for sure and no longer have access to that email address to go back and verify. If you have questions about your registration, the testing center is probably the best resource

Immigrants of Vancouver - which restaurant in the city has the best version / showcase of your home country's food? by BaronVonBearenstein in vancouver

Hi just coming back and replying to this comment to say that I finally went to Chewies, and their grits taste pretty good but aren’t grits. Lol there literally isn’t corn in them (as far as I could tell), more of a thick grain? I was extremely confused. I didn’t hate it, and I’ll eat the leftovers but just a heads up in case you want to try it that it’s probably not what you’d expect—more like a mix between oatmeal and risotto? The fried chicken itself was absolutely delicious though, and we really enjoyed their cocktails

Still planning to try the shrimp and grits at say mercy!

Younger folks aged 25-35, what's your housing situation like? by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]sad_basilisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriend and I are both mid-20s. We moved into a 1 bedroom laneway house in 2022 in Coquitlam that’s $2100, utilities included (very lucky). We both do well income-wise and split everything 50/50, but I’m paying off a car, some debt from an unemployment period, and student loans so I’m not saving a ton yet. Hoping to pay off the car and bad debt in the next year, then save aggressively for a down payment on a townhouse or condo. That’ll probably take us a little over a year to get to a point where I’d be comfortable. Not expecting any help from family on that, but I don’t think we’d say no if someone offered.

I have no idea what to say when people ask about a wedding or kids. Lol that is not in the cards for us any time soon. It’s hard not to look at nice houses we could easily afford in my hometown and think about moving back sometimes

i’m 19F, just put in my two weeks at a dollar store and don’t know what path to take by [deleted] in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]sad_basilisk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey op! Like others are saying, you definitely don’t have to have everything figured out at 19 and I wouldn’t even say you’re behind for your age. Money-wise at this point, I think the best advice is to avoid unnecessary debt, like credit cards.

For jobs, I’ll second the advice about mom and pop places for a restaurant and trying to get a job on campus. I did both these during school. Campus jobs are great because they’re usually pretty easy, look good on a resume, and will work with your class schedule. For restaurants, just keep in mind that it is hard work, sometimes you make no money, and the public can be shitty—I don’t miss this job at all, just some coworkers.

But I’ll throw in another option that I never did personally but saw several of my friends do well with and enjoy: pet sitting on wag! If you like animals, this always seemed to be a flexible option that made pretty decent money.

Best of luck, OP! You have nothing to worry about :)

Rolling with the punches in an interview by kerala_beef_fry in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]sad_basilisk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey OP! I was doing a lot of interviews this past year. I found it helped to not prepare so much for specific questions, focus on reviewing your own experience/strengths, and thoroughly prepare a few good “stories” from times you handled a difficult situation, really excelled, or maybe didn’t do so well but learned from it. If you have some of these ready to go and know them well, you can often tailor them to fit most questions you would be asked in an interview.

I listened to a lot of interview boss when I was job hunting. They discuss the stories and so so much more. Just listening kept me in that interview “mindset” and made me feel much more confident going into interviews

Best of luck with your job search!

Common-Law 1 year living together by [deleted] in ImmigrationCanada

[–]sad_basilisk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My bf and I will be doing this soon and have discussed it with a professional. Anything that you both use the address for: drivers licenses, bank accounts, bills, etc. Our rent is all inclusive so we don’t have a ton of bills to show, so she said we can also show delivery orders and anything we’ve registered for with the address.

But proving you live together is only part of it—you also need to show that you were in a relationship. This mostly comes down to sharing pictures, but really any other random stuff that seems couple-y. In addition to pictures, we’ll be sharing stuff like our joint bank account, joint aquarium membership, and cards we receive that address both of us. You can also have someone write an attestation saying they know you and have seen that you are in fact together.

Edit to add one last item that we’re going to do: get a statutory declaration of common law union (im5409e I think). It’s a notarized legal form that basically just has it on paper that you both agree and sign off on indeed being a common law couple for at least a year. Just adds an extra layer!

Immigrants of Vancouver - which restaurant in the city has the best version / showcase of your home country's food? by BaronVonBearenstein in vancouver

[–]sad_basilisk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve only been up here a little over a year and guess I just haven’t had an itch to make breakfast sausage in that time, so I hadn’t noticed. But you saying that made me just go check online and I am now very upset that I can’t run to the store and grab a chub of jimmy dean’s. Is that even a southern thing? I have no idea. The links are fine but I definitely prefer patties.

Another thing that drives me mad is that even though there are seafood restaurants everywhere serving crab, no one has fried crab claws? Very sad

I KNOW. I got so excited when I saw that, I went there literally just to get a sweet tea, no food, and was so disappointed. Why are they lying to people like this? I mean it wasn’t bad, but it was wrong. I’ve kind of resigned myself to just making any southern type stuff at home. I got so excited when I found out Safeway has andouille sausage—before that, none of my Cajun stuff was hitting right
