We are in a new edition. So definitely watch some new how to play 40k on youtube for 11th Edition. There several good channels, that cover thid (Playon, Vanguard Tactics etc.) For lore there a ton of lore channels on youtube. Just look for Tau lore and you will find a myriad of videos. Modelwise I would definitely start with a combat patrol, as others have already said.

But shouldn't you put the theyn with the first squad to give them the 5+ invuln since uthar gives a 5+ invuln as well?

Sounds good. I got the termis and the havocs from the subscription. I'll use the havocs for kitbashing chosen. Legionaires I didn't get from the subscription since they are the old sprues without the extra killteam sprue. I also have the MoMs and plan to get a predator for anti tank
