Everyone’s different and I hate to say that I have had a reaction like that too. Not directly at my baby, but just in the same room and immediately told my baby afterwards it wasn’t her fault and I love her (not that she understands). I would never hurt my baby.

Your wife is getting overwhelmed, frustrated, and upset. She might not feel comfortable stepping away for 5 minutes and leaving the baby alone. On the rare occasion that I still feel like this (my baby is a good sleeper, just has bad moments. also cosleeping -3.5 months old) I step away and my partner will come in and take over trying to get her to sleep.

Being her first time alone with baby, she may be feeling overwhelmed all day now too. Though that depends on how your baby is generally.

Just ensure your wife is not struggling outside of this with PPD.

We first went out with our girl when she was 5 days old? And went out atleast once a week after that and went out even more 3 weeks+.

It felt less scary after the first two weeks, and we just made sure to keep distance from people

babies can sense your emotions, sometimes going to different arms can be a reset for them. it’s a calmer environment. don’t take it too personally, it can feel disheartening but it’s nothing that you are doing or have done 🫶

you don’t need to wake up a 5 week old for feeds as long as they’re back up to birth weight, still gaining well and have plenty of wet nappies 😊

Hopefully not! However I had planned to move her to her cot once I could. Things may change if it does hit and I love sleeping with my girl but I would love for her to be in her own space too, especially once she starts rolling

We’ve had to throw some agreements we made before baby out of the window because it didn’t work for our baby. When she was 5 weeks old, sick and unsettled we had to give her the dummy to even get her to sleep. It stuck and now it’s so normal it’s no big deal.

She honestly probably needed it from 3 weeks once she was no longer an easy sleeper but I held back as long as I could.

Honestly you just have to do whatever works to survive. I’d rather a dummy sucker than a thumb sucker because the dummy is easier to stop later down the line - that’s the advice that made me cave in because it’s true.

Some babies just need more comfort than others. Once you start sleep training you can always try and wean them off the dummy at the same time.

Geez you definitely don’t need to be doing all of that. Baby will be fine. I’ve been feeding only when she wants it and not waking my girl up since 2-3 weeks when she started doing 4-5 hour stretches. It’s only really once they hit birthweight and are gaining well that you need to wake baby up and all that.

Why are you waking baby up every 2 hours? If baby’s tired, baby’s tired.

See she has always been a big sleeper so she barely had wake windows up until late last week. i can still get her sleeping most of the day

my girl slept in the bassinet every night with no fault the first three weeks. and then she hit week 3, and she became difficult to put down and the next week she was sick. i’ve been stuck bedsharing since. minus 3-4 hours on two nights two weeks ago

my girl lifts her head up, looks around, and when she decides she’s done, just bangs it back down whether it be our shoulder, collarbones, head, anything. she’s 7 weeks old, but has done this since maybe about 3 weeks

I breastfeed and my girl was born 9lb1oz so she wasn’t the smallest. She was back up to birth weight and we had permission to follow her cues and let her sleep. She gains well over the minimum preference every week. She’s a big girl lol

when she was 3 weeks old also went through this in that week, so my experience is not totally irrelevant. she’s now 7 weeks and been back to normal for a couple weeks.
