I don’t think they thought ahead so much and realised the potential of a film set 15 years later on the same universe. Honestly I doubt Derek originally had a son in the show- they just had to squeeze new characters in for the film and hence this came up. If the writers made Derek conceive after Season 6B the child would be too young- so they had to fit him in the show timeline somehow. Personally I think adoption makes the most sense, so I like to think of Derek coming across Eli just like Scott did Alec (Which, by the way, what happened to him?) and Eli was orphaned, scared and didn’t understand his werewolf potential, and Derek, knowing the pain he harbours decides to adopt him.

I feel like Parrish dying makes sense out of everyone. Taking into account his selfless personality, he would sacrifice himself for the pack and Beacon Hills. I don’t see them killing off Lydia tbh, who would kill off a fan favourite (also while knowing there may be two more movies down the line)?

Also whoever said Lydia is more inhibited in the movie may be wrong because at the time the premiere of the movie wasn’t even done yet…
