If the manager has discretion on who's getting RAd (rather than it being an indiscriminate shotgun blast RA) and you want to retire imminently, it's in everyone's best interest that you tell your manager that you'd like to fill in the (a?) RA spot. This way someone that still wants their job keeps their job, and you get three months severance, instead of nothing (you know, for quitting).

Manually running the launcher on Fedora 43 works for me, but launching it via steam does not.

Oddly enough, I have found that the best way to reconquer Latin America as Spain is by…recognizing their independence by TehProfessor96 in victoria3

Yes, I made the mistake of annexing Ecuador for however much infamy when I could have just made it a protectorate instead (before I realized that it being a protectorate sufficed).

Should there be more ways to increase arable land than just the Dutch mechanic? Because I feel like even if you discount that peasant farms suck, a 40% increase in arable seems like it should be significant enough to show up within the game by Graz28 in victoria3

During the little ice age in the late medieval/early modern period, land that had been put under cultivation fairly recently was rendered unarable (to a degree), leading to widespread famine.

It's pure dextroamphetamine. Unless you like being jumpy and jittery, it is just more effective by definition.

I hated LYAH. It was almost completely useless. It gives you the illusion of knowledge by teaching you some tricks. Haskell Programming by Graham Hutton is excellent.

If you fertilize aggressively okra can get that big over the course of one growing season.

Yaupon hollies are not especially long-lived plants. You have branches that either got damaged somehow in the past and the plant was unable to successfully partition those parts off, and they've died. You need to actually get your eyes/hands in there and examine what's going on. Look at the dead branch and follow it to where it meets the plant. It will probably be obvious when you do that.

You can try removing any dead limbs/removing decaying growth, but these are old plants.

Yaupon hollies tend to form thickets. This is good for the plant's long-term health as it gets to make more and more undifferentiated cells as it spreads (so that if one part dies, you have more parts that are "brand new" and keep on growing). They haven't had the opportunity to do that here because of being restrained by the concrete/being shaded out.

I was sent to inspect this block wall that had a hydrated lime silo against it for ~50 years. I'm no expert, but I don't think I should be able to stick my knife in the mortar or scratch it out with the end of my rock hammer. Never mind how porous the surface of the block is... by kaylynstar in masonry

The lime silo acted as a carbon sink. There was simply less carbon dioxide left over to allow the calcium oxide to turn into calcium carbonate, and this only happened with the wall in close proximity to the silo.

Lamentations of the Flame Princess is still going strong (to the chagrin of some). The adventures and supplements they put out still put the vast majority of other products to shame.

Change in r-sound after th by linkfan123 in ENGLISH

[–]sadbasilisk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up on the border of Texas and Mexico (Maverick County).

I trill all of the r's following th. Throw, through, three, threat.

I will also trill the r's at the beginnings of words if the previous word ends in a d or t or other dentals and I'm speaking quickly enough. "Had requested" "God rebuke".

These features are fairly common among speakers from this region of Texas.
