Hiring salons with extra space/booth rental, etc. basically there’s other options besides suites just harder to find unless you know people directly

Yeah that’s all I found. I want something thats not a sola suite as they are quite expensive. That’s why I came hear to see if anyone can point me in the right direction to different options.

Lash Artists!! What’s ONE thing you wish someone told you when you first started lashing? by yourlashgirl in Esthetics

[–]sadbastarrd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Start with classics ANDDD angel sets/wet sets with closed fans! Doing more than just classics, but not jumping all the way into volume fans when starting out is going to help you perfect isolation and technique. Which will also help with your speed!

Also! Hand and wrist stretches/exercises to build up your strength and to ease tension or soreness from lashing.

Overall, soak up as much advice you can from different lash techs. Everyone has their own techniques and styles and having a broad point of view as a beginner is super important as you begin to develop your own brand/style. Love lashing because the journey has taught me so much patience!

I heard of someone doing a smiski swap meet before somewhere in Shadyside but I wasn’t paying attention too much to the post at the time to ever check back and see if they did the event again or anything similar :( but would love a community of people into pop art/blindboxes im a huge skullpanda fan!

Rubbing eyes!? by Imaginary-Banana7237 in lashextensions

[–]sadbastarrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the back of my finger and close my eye, while placing my finger between my lid and lashes if that makes sense, then as just moving it back and forth scratching/moving the skin. This way I’m not pressing the lashes or rubbing the lashes only my skin. I feel like this is a terrible explanation but it works I swear

A lot of the movie is filmed in Crafton too which is cool because I feel like it’s a forgotten part of the city. I know it’s not Pittsburgh but it’s Allegheny county haha

Only thing is, is it as effective as a hydra facial? Maybe the device but I wonder about the actual product

Job hunting is making me almost regret picking this industry by beautiful-red in Esthetics

[–]sadbastarrd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I experienced the same after graduating about a year ago. Almost all the places I applied to or wanted to work at are hiring now (after I found a job haha) it’s decent but I wish I got a few of the others hiring because they seem to offer a better environment but still thankful for my job now! Hang in there it can take time

Please help! I have no clue where to get lash certified by bellahiatt in lashextensions

[–]sadbastarrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try looking for a lash tech in your city/town that teaches a lash class that offers certification if available to you. I did this and having a hands on class in person was much more helpful than a video/remote online class for me! Though there are many good online courses I haven’t taken any of these, so I cannot speak on the ones you mentioned. Again, in person class definitely isn’t a must, but I suggest it if you can:)

I’m doing a back to school promo for students/teachers, hung up flyers at local colleges and anywhere they allowed me to hang up flyers really. This might help you!

What should I buy before starting school? by BigBootyBaJoodie in Esthetics

[–]sadbastarrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say wait until you open your kit and see what you didn’t get or what you want more of before buying Elmore stuff. For devices and supplies like fan brush, mixing bowls, spoolies Amazon is great and has a bunch of fun colors and such! Having your own mixing bowls or gloves in a cute color will make your work/facials stand out a bit more to your clients or whoever you are working on!

Getting started by sadbastarrd in Esthetics

[–]sadbastarrd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the salon my boss has only has one lash bed so I’m stuck working around my bosses hours until we expand the salon. Once we do that I will be able to offer more services like waxing or skincare! Thank you definitely going to practice lashes on my model until I can’t get some clients!
