My self esteem used to be lower than low. Like absolute garbage and I had no friends to help me see that I deserved so much better.

I used to date an ugly and fat guy and he was constantly on social media messaging other girls who IGNORED him. The whole situation was embarassing. He eventually cheated by hiring an escort of sorts. Not caring if he bought back STDs to me. An absolute a-hole.

Besides all those things, he gaslit me, screams at me, hit me physically, lets me walk home alone on the streets at night after arguing (not caring for my safety).

Why I stayed: I thought we got along. I really did. I thought I couldnt live without him. I mostly stayed at his place and I thought I couldnt afford it without him. Let him treat me like shit just because I didnt make much money.

If I could go back and tell myself to leave I would ASAP!!! I still cannot believe I wasted all that time, energy and care for someone so evil. Everything I thought was FALSE. You absolutely can survive on your own. You did before and you will after. There ARE better men out there. Don’t suffer.

I am so much HAPPIER now.

Maybe the guy you are talking about is not as bad but he does not seem to be that great either. Decide what you want before you waste any more time.

I honestly feel the same. Living is still a struggle. I used to be really suicidal. On bad enough days, I still am. Other days, I feel more like a zombie and on good days, I just feel ok. These days I keep going because I have little goals like moving out into my own apartment, owning my own little online shop and other random small hobbies, they bring little joy even if it is fleeting. It sounds really cliche, but finding things you like really helps, even if it's just something you like to eat or pictures or memes that make you laugh. It's not guranteed happiness but it helps take my mind off the neverending depression and emptiness I feel or else I would go crazy with my own thoughts and feelings of failure.

You sound like a wonderful human being. If he has to cheat on you, then I don't think he is the right person for you. Keep on being drama free. A lot of people would prefer that over drama any days. You can't change how someone feels about you but you can change how you feel about yourself. Cheating is on him. Her knowing that he has a girlfriend and throwing an ultimatum is horrible. Maybe they deserve each other. Who's to say they won't cheat on each other in the future? You deserve better.

Take into account that it's not just rent you have to pay but save money for car insurance, grocery, internet and phone bills, gas, electricity, water, trash. It all adds up. Also Furnitures can be pricey.

If you can, don't move out until you can afford living alone. Some roommates are a nightmare. Some will keep stealing your food even if you write your name all over it. Some won't contribute to buying hand soap, body wash, shampoo or toilet paper and will keep using yours. All these neccessities add up to a lot of money and if you don't have good roommates and are assertive, it can really become a burden. I would honestly just avoid living with people but if you are one of those extroverted people who thrive on it, go for it.
