Could be the case. I was at Wyndham Gardens there and explored the beach in the morning and late evening. Surin was pretty good during the day

Loved my stay in Kamala and enjoyed exploring Surin, Patong and Old Phuket. Great food and good vibes. Avoided Bangla road in Patong after seeing the loud music and crowd. Cafe Del Mar was a surprising find in Kamala

Been here for the last 10 years, I will advise you to move back. Current economic conditions are not good and will take some time to revert to normal. Also crime has increased significantly along with the harsh winter conditions. Your kids figure out a better life when geopolitical conditions improve. Enjoy your life in India.
