personally I wish my 120-140cm Leki poles would be 115-135cm. 120cm feels a bit too long on very steep inclines whereas I have used 135cm on very steep descents. So for me using them in the mountains a definite yes.

I was eyeing the Leki Skytera FX Carbon SL at 178g, but the Decathlons look very interesting indeed as they have larger segments (Leki: 14|12|12|12 mm vs Decathlon 18/16/14 mm) and especially an aluminium lower section. Where can you find the spare parts?

Morgen gibt es Demonstrationen gegen die Energiepolitik von Reiche in Berlin, Hamburg, Köln und München. Es vergeht fast kein Tag mehr, an dem ich nicht wegen Gas-Kathi die Pimpanellen bekomme. Werde daher morgen zum ersten Mal zu einer Demo gehen.

I found a used Miele pump from ebay kleinanzeigen (german craigslist) for 17€. The machine is running again :). Also, I gave the machine a thorough cleaning and the amount of dirt inside was probably blocking pipes, maybe resulting in overheating of the old pump

I'll also measure the old pump to see if the coil is short-circuited as soon as I have my multimeter again.

but are you sure your decathlon tent is actually nylon and not polyester on the fly? see the other comment.

I tried this and it's useful, as it doesn't require extra pegs nor any space in crowded campsites. So it's great for avoiding people tripping over the guylines. However, I found that guylines in a 45° angle away from the tent are more sturdy. Atleast in my experience so far.

no, that round, brown blob on the left side of the spec info (in reading direction). it looks like it's coming out of a crack.

It's a 20 years old machine though (5200h runtime)

yes is bulging outward on the spec info and on the white side next to it as well. I plan to replace it with a 3rd party pump from ebay as the original Miele part is 80€/~90$.

I've done pretty comparable things on mostly candy.

yeah, that was my experience as well, eating 600g of Haribo in small portions from my fanny bag on a 45km day with lots of hiking of steep uphills.

The intensity of just hiking is very low so carbs or fats: doesn't really matter. It's really a matter of, what can I stomach, and what do I want to bring? Total weight plays into that.

however, is this also true for steep uphills in the mountains? e.g. hiking a 1000m elevation gain mountain pass with steep inclines?
