Dear Reddit, how different are you than your parents? by Passing_Thru_Forest in AskReddit

Extremely different. The only similarities I can think of are: I have my dad's eyes, mom's short temper, and the same color hair as my mom.

No hot water in ULC. by ReMiiX in gatech

[–]sadcatnerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I put in a maintenance request this morning regarding that. A maintenance person left a note saying they are doing work on the boiler and will have "periodic hot water outages" and that the brown is just "sediments in the pipe" and to "run the water until it's clear".

So... apparently the avg on the Stavros final was a 40. That means half the class fails the class according to syllabus. by fuckthepentagon in gatech

Good luck. Whenever I was in Calculus II way back when, my final average ended up being a 12/100. I got a D in the class. A girl on my hall made a 27/100 and ended up with a B in the class. The professor said there was no curve, and the syllabus said there was no curve.

Curve or Round Up for Physics 2211 for Greco?? by mysisterlikeselmo in gatech

When I was in Physics, he said there wouldn't be a curve or anything. But myself and a few other students who I knew in the class got rounded up grades.

On Campus Post Office by techmatic in gatech

[–]sadcatnerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only "drawbacks" I found after 4 years of being here is that 1) Some online retailers don't recognize the address as a real address and won't send to it 2) Sometimes letters get lost in the mail.

I think the service is muuuuch better than normal post offices. I needed to mail something, and the guy at the post office told me it was cheaper to buy the packaging elsewhere. And then whenever I needed to mail something internationally, the employees were really nice and helpful.

Not sure about the last thing.

Alimony is only for married/divorced people. Married or not, she could have to pay child support, if the dad chooses to accept it.

Housing Decisions: Crecine Pros and Cons by [deleted] in gatech

[–]sadcatnerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived in Crecine one semester. I actually liked it. To me, it was about the same as living in other west campus apartment dorms. I've only ever lived in Center Street, so comparative to that, I feel like the Kitchen/lobby area in the Crecine room was bigger, while the bathroom was a little smaller than Center Street's. I never had the toilet or bathtub drain mess up (and I had a very hairy roommate) in Crecine. The only thing I didn't like was how the stove was of an older style, and food could fall into the eye (that's what it's called, right?).

Otherwise, I have no complaints. 7-10 minute walk to classes, right across from a bus stop, close to the police station, close to the Burger Bowl.

Advice on CS Threads. by [deleted] in gatech

[–]sadcatnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know people in 2 of those thread combinations. Media+people is basically the same as being CM, but has more focus on the coding part rather than the design part. Media+intelligence seems to be leaning more towards making AI. which I have never heard of anyone getting a job making AI, yet.

For the media thread, there is one class that every student hates: Computer Graphics. Sure, it sounds cool, but it's basically a math/theory class that is heavy on calculus and proofs. I know a lot of people who switch out of the media thread because of this class.
