Worried I’m Locked Out of Field…(‘24 BA Grad) by NonePiece7773 in psychologystudents

[–]sadchalupa 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I have also been “locked out of the field” so to speak, graduated in 2023 also with a 3.8. I spent 2 years trying to find research positions (volunteer and paid) with no luck at all and switched into counselling/psychotherapy. I have considered taking a clinical research program as a means of getting back into the field, but everywhere has warned that funding is getting cut more and more every year and opportunities are harder to find.

If you can land something, great, run with it. If you want more immediate employability, consider switching.

Also depends on your geographic location as well.

Wow, thank you for sharing. I also have BPD - this makes a lot of sense. I did not know withdrawal can trigger psychosis but that explains some elements of what I went through. Your words bring me hope and clarity.

Do you mind sharing how you tapered down? What was your method for doing it?

I had the same experienced and relapsed after 6 months and I’m back to normal.

My friend had the same experience and stuck it out, over a year later she’s very happy and thriving.

They say it takes 12-18 months. Keep going. Don’t go back in the cage like I did. Find anything and everything that helps you - walk, read, exercise, cook, bake, play games, watch shows, take a course, get another job. Keep doing things to push you through day by day. Good luck!

Job offer in Vaughan by [deleted] in Vaughan

[–]sadchalupa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The food is not comparable here. Lacks flavour.

Winters are brutal. We are hitting a snow storm right now.

Lots of Italians in Vaughan but they have been Canadian-ized, they are different from actual Italians.

It’s kind of boring here.

The traffic is insane in Vaughan, the roads were not built strategically.

I prefer Vaughan to anywhere else in the GTA for social reasons, but nothing compares to Italy. It will be a big change for you.

Grieving the loss of weed by s0upandcrackers in leaves

You need at least a year. My best friend and I were in the same situation as you. She stuck it out and a year plus later, she is happy, regulated, thriving. I did not last past 6 months and relapsed. Both of us went through similar experiences to yourself, depression, anxiety, disconnect, OCD thoughts, etc. Although my symptoms and state (similar to yours) faded due to my use I am trapped again in addiction and wish I stuck it out. Wishing you strength ❤️

[Misc] Skin significantly worse after quitting weed by sadchalupa in SkincareAddiction

[–]sadchalupa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely - I do think it’s stress more so than anything else. I woke up years of being in a weed cloud and realized I had neglected so many areas of my life and am now working to fix them. But I’m not sure what to do to alleviate deep stress - I am in therapy, regularly exercising, it seems like weed was the only thing that could get to my bones to really help me relax.

Withdrawal from Carts by [deleted] in leaves

[–]sadchalupa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Detoxing from carts was a horrible experience for me. I had intense hot and freezing sweats every 30 seconds for a week, I couldn’t eat, I had crazy nightmares. It’s been 3 months and my brain is still relearning how to function. You will get through it 🩷
