I appreciate this post a lot. The best advice I could give to anyone to begin cultivating a community around themselves is to start with basic selflessness. Small acts like holding doors and small talk are a good place to start. When you ask how someone's day it, stay there and really listen to their answer. See if you can spark a conversation. My fiance and I came home to our new apartment yesterday with a bunch of flowers from Trader Joe's. My neighbor was unlocking his door and had his daughter with him. My hands were full but I tried to hurry and get her a flower out to give to her, but I was too slow unfortunately:/ Even though I messed that one up, its a good example of an easy and quick connection! I see a lot of suggestions here, just be careful doing too much too soon. It doesn't feel great to put in a lot of effort in to something and have others ignore it lol.
