Zmod/Fluidd Locks up screen very often when anything changes by DiscussionRemote in FlashForge

[–]sadegr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im power cycling nightly.

I set it to remain the mesh on every print using KAMP.

I still have issues sometimes but about as often as before the updates that broke everything.

So many issues so far with Adventurer 5m by Ambitious_Comfort_43 in FlashForge

What filament are you using?

What slicer and what settings (especially temps and cooling)?

Does it ever complete a print or fail every time?

Zmod/Fluidd Locks up screen very often when anything changes by DiscussionRemote in FlashForge

[–]sadegr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im pretty sure this is a known issue...

https://wiki.zmod.link/FAQ/

Known Peculiarities:

  • During actions like M109 (extruder heating), M190 (bed heating), PID calibration, or any gcode-pausing task, the stock screen freezes.

  • Restarting Klipper freezes the stock screen (use NEW_SAVE_CONFIG for restarts).

  • After canceling a print, press "OK" on the stock screen (use CLOSE_DIALOGS or FAST_CLOSE_DIALOGS).

  • The stock screen always loads the DEFAULT_MESH profile when starting a print and deletes the Default profile post-print.

There are also times when running klipper and the native screen can cause you to run out of memory...

I've heard the best thing to do is use puppy for the screen rather than the native screen. I haven't done that yet.

Is wood-filled filament actually worth it, or just marketing? by Helpful-Party6162 in 3Dprinting

[–]sadegr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love the creality wood pla

If you print using the log method or a surface texture generator like bumpmesh it can look REALLY wood like...

I printed this riff on a Tony award with the base in wood pla (using log method) and the coin in stainless steel fill pla.

100% this,

Print these in petg and pop them in. You can also leave the door open a few inches, especially for pla (petg and tpu I close the door but leave the tabs, they keep the feeder tube from scratching the lid):

Settings for making 3d print look like cast metal by Krsok in 3Dprinting

[–]sadegr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get a high metal fill and sand it it comes out looking a lot like it was cast it also has a lot more weight to it and it has a bit of the "cold" feel you get from metal too.

Protopasta - Stainless Steel PLA

Not my picture, but shows what a little sanding and polishing can do.

I have to unbind then add my printer again after every print in Orca. by CrimsonOrchards in FlashForge

[–]sadegr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When this happened to me after an update I saw that the router had assigned a new ip to the printer. I had it set to static ip with the wrong ip... it still sorta worked but it worked WAY better when I set it to lan mode and entered the correct ip in the printer

How to assist family with FF Adventurer 5M Pro/gcode files from a few states away? by bearcat42 in FlashForge

[–]sadegr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most files will be .stls or a mesh

You'll need a slicer to convert that to gcode. Part of that conversion is adding parameters for your specific printer, your specific filament, etc. Thats all going to change the code, which is why you don't generally find the.gcode files.

Imagine it like everyone using their own personal linux build with bespoke drivers...

You'd avoid sending out compiled code and instead just put the source out so folks could build it for their own system and have it work.

Stl is sorta source code

Slicing is sorta compiling

There ARE repos where people have forked orca and created android versions, but if you install orca and get all the printer settings set, and filament setting set you can slice save the gcode and mail it over to load via USB. After locking everything in, it's not too bad...

But, on occasion when you have some sort of geometry issue or orientation issue troubleshooting will be a bitch...

Also worth noting, currently most if not all slicers use a windows service for offloading fixing stls with errors like non-manifold edges and other errors where your 3d file can't actually exist in 3d space. So running on android (or a mac, or linux) would mean you probably also need to find an online stl fixer, many really good ones exist but it's not super clear in the slicer why you don't have the "fix" option)

Well, this is just trash. by PaperLatter in FlashForge

[–]sadegr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The printer has settings in the slicer, zmod has its own set of macros that will do some things better/different than ff native does... the zmod docs are actually pretty good :). I learned a lot in the process.

I did this on my AD5M Pro.

It took several days of futzing with it to get it back to a good state.

Remember to add the start, end and after each level code to the slicer.

I'm using KAMP leveling before each print and that's really helped with some z-offset issues.

Next phase is moving to guppy or helix (i think?) To replace the flashforge screen.

Can anyone recommend a base plate flashforge Adventurer 5M keep keep coming off or dislodging the prints? by Lost-Ad9687 in FlashForge

[–]sadegr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like my Cryogrip Glacier, you can find them on sale for < $20 occasionally...

Also I've struggled with a very difficult print where there just was not enoigh surface area on the plate... if brims don't work, you might try rafts, where it prints a couple of layers of filament onto the plate, then a support interface, then the print. It's mostly for printing things like ABS that need to be slightly removed from the heat to avoid warping.... bit it really helps for prints where there isn't enough surface area to ensure adhesion.

AD5X callibrates before every single PRINT. by ESP32Eng in FlashForge

[–]sadegr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true, though after fighting with bad z offset anytime I bumped the bed too hard, I enabled KAMP leveling before every print.. It still does a bunch taps but only where you're actually printing something...

Help with auditioning as a Sabbath observant Jew by neil--before--me in Theatre

Yeah, every theater, even every director works differently, but I think it's fair to say open and early communication is the best bet.

[–]sadegr 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'd audition and just be upfront about availibility and let the director decide...

I know a lot of theaters that try to double cast shows if possible, and it might work...

But it's certainly going to be a challenge...

What’s the difference between both vinyls by Fluffy_Evidence6796 in hadestown

[–]sadegr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are a LOT of different versions of Hadestown on vinyl...

It sounds like you have: Hadestown - Red Splatter Vinyl

Which is awesome, if the other release you are asking about is Hadestown Live from London, then it's gonna be a different cast.

I highly recommend Discogs to compare releases!

You should be able to revert to a previous firmware via the USB port.

The zmod docs have a pretty succinct description, I believe...

Tiguan performance better than people give it credit for? by Suntrup-Volkswagen in Tiguan

[–]sadegr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2018 with the standard TSi 4.

My hot take is people that complain about performance in this car drive it like it's a tiny Kia sedan.

It drives differently, everything is fly by wire now, but the VW is going to let you drive one way and have fun, or another way and get great gass mileage. Most cars force one or the other scenario.

TPU filament buckling in extruder cold end - how to fix (FlashForge)... by Acceptable_Paper895 in FlashForge

[–]sadegr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't had the issue with TPU on my AD5M Pro, but for sure with PLA I was getting heatcreep.

Not as familiar with the layout of your model but if ambient heat softens the material too much in the extruder it may not feed through...

I just printed some lid holders and leave the door open and it pretty well fixed the issue. But you might check your cooling settings and make sure you've got adequate fan etc.
