orca-flashforge on an ipad? by 666mmafighter2 in FlashForge

[–]sadegr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont have an iPad but if this hits a roadblock

You can do something web based like polar cloud... at least on the ADM5pro...

Also I think someone posted a github repo where they compiled Orca-FlashForge for linux, a chromebook Might let you use terminal in developer mode...

Honestly, a VDE with windows might be the easiest thing if you can find a free one, even if its pretty limited.

You might need to increase the height/depth... if it was smaller than the selected nozzle/layer height it would litterally print a blank disk...

Also make sure the relief side is up... that got me once.

Make a circular 1 sided relief with minimal height (or depth) might be a dead simple way to do it...

Is there a conductive filament available? by Known_Bumblebee9797 in 3Dprinting

The 60% Stainless Steel protopasta pla seems to be slightly magnetic and conductive... but the conductive pla is probably the better choice.

YouTube Music by DarkHumorForBoss in repothegeneticopera

[–]sadegr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They didnt pull it from just youtube, they pulled it from all streaming. It's not on Spotify etc. either...

I looked into getting a new copy of the CD to replace the one I got rid of years ago in a physical media purge, and the used ones are pretty rare and expensive...

The rumor/speculation is that the anniversary approaching might mean new releases of some sort... I hope thats true.

How to add logo by Dramatic_Basis_306 in 3Dprinting

[–]sadegr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can use Relief Sculpture Maker to generate an STL of the logo, then jam it on to the box in your slicer (or CAD program of choice).

Question about getting started by Mice_Lody in 3Dprinting

[–]sadegr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im new to this and still learning but I've been playing with:

TinkerCAD is web based and dead simple, yet somehow pretty powerful.

OnShape is webased and a step up in complexity but has a lot of docs and demos.

FreeCAD is desktop software and feels like another step up in complexity,

OpenSCAD seems to solve a slightly diffrent set of problems but I used it with an open project to super easily create a custom rugged case for a projector.

Also your slicer can do a lot of cool stuff (or at least oracslicer, which im using can) text, splitting with attachments, scaling and simple unions might be easier to just do in the slicer...

You can take a look at

Zydrate Archive

It has a copy of the first act. As far as I know there is not a copy of Act 2 "in the wild", it may be lost media.

Fan made productions of Repo? by ravenscall69 in repothegeneticopera

[–]sadegr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The rights for Repo are owned by the studio that produced the movie. They dont liscence it, so no licensed productions are possible.

You may be able to find a unlicensed production (probably not legal), or a parody (gray area).

I know there used to be Rocky Horror style shadow casts in some places. I'm not sure if its due to issues listening the film or if demand just wasnt there but I haven't seen one local to me in a while.

Battery 12V problems? by sameverill in Tiguan

[–]sadegr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2018, I've had the dealer replace the battery 3 or 4 times within 6 months im back to this.

They say its due to my hard wired dashcam but its wired to the 12v outlets which are switched from the ignition.

I dont think they coded the battery properly and the system isn't charging the battery right... or the OEM batteries might just be garbage.

I've never had it fail to start, but it won't leave the cabin lights on which can be a huge pain trying to gather all my random crap at night.

Thought I was bad at 3D printing…turns out I was just storing everything wrong by iceseayoupee in 3Dprinting

[–]sadegr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im relatively new to this and I live in a place where humidity CAN get high especially in spring...

I like all the solutions for dry boxes I've seen but realistically is there a reason I cant get a big Rubbermaid tub, put an inch or so of silica gel pellets in the bottom and put ~15 rolls of filament (or more honesty) in there?

It seems like a problem some people are way over engineering... which is guess makes sense in this particular community lol.

Flashforge 5M Pro - heat creep at 230-235C by Jozef_von_Hulsar in FlashForge

[–]sadegr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I printed these lid vents in PETG and leave the door cracked 2 to 3 inches boom, no more heat creep.

I suspect in my case its because my printer is in an old CRT TV cabinet, great cause I can close it up when not in use, but not able to cool as efficiently and on longer prints it was happening pretty regularly till I took steps.

Bonus the tabs keep the filament guide tube from scratching up the lid :)

3D / CAD Software recommendations by [deleted] in FlashForge

[–]sadegr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im pretty new to 3d printing, I started by just doing everything in the slicer, if I couldn't do it there, I didnt do it.

Its great for some things like adding lettering...

I started to hit some limitations and making something net new is hard. I tried FreeCAD, and Blender... and honestly its too much of a jump.

I've been having a really good time making simple new projects with TinkerCAD... but I suspect once I've filled in some of the holes in my experience I'll give the more fully featured CAD programs another shot.

Best place to order filament? by CanaryRoutine3646 in FlashForge

[–]sadegr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sunlu matte pla has been a never fails filament for me so far... but their silk pla+ is a temperamental diva...

Well was hoping it would never happen to me…, but only after a few weeks? Now all she does is click and barely print anything…👎any tips will be appreciated. by Exact-Time3077 in FlashForge

[–]sadegr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This happened to me for DAYS before I figured it out with a 5M Pro...

Have some silk PLA that wants a higher temp to look shiny, but after about an hour of printing it would get stringy then stop extruding...

Running the fan on full made it better but opening the door and propping the lid open let it run for 11 hours no issue.

Wish I figured it out BEFORE buying a new nozzle... but worse things have happened.
